Loto,

I read couple of your postings regarding the tax transcripts.. I also filed as jointly married tax return of the year 2007. I am also waiting for IITN to be issued to my husband.. IRS that process these requests received my tax return but they needed more doucments which i already send to them but haven't heard from them yet. I called them on past tuesday, they mentioned it will take around 4 to 6 weeks to process.

Now the question is " my husband has not got his IITN number yet, and i already submitted AOS package.. will that cause any problem in sponsering" Before submitting i spoke with NVC live operator couple different times on the same issue and they all said, since you already filed for the year 2007, you do not have to worry about that.. but i didn't send the copy of W-7 along with the AOS package as didn't have it..

I am little concered now.. Any comments on this issue..

I think it varies - if you look at my timeline, I was lucky enough to have it entered the next business day ... I think by tomorrow you should hopefully hear that its been entered :) The same is true for the DS-230 ... it can "officially" take up to a week (maybe even more), but mine was entered in a day ...

My wife visited VFS (It is needed in India for passport delivery after the interview) office today and here is her findings. Please note that, this is for Chennai (India) U.S consulate and it may differ to other consulates.

She has to come back to VFS on 06/17/2008 because they expect applicant not earlier than 15 calendar (not business days) days. VFS office is actually close to our home in India.

If interview letter is not received before 06/17/2008, VFS will give a receipt stating so. Then she needs to print out the July (her interview is on 07/03/2008) list of appointments from Chennai U.S consulate (where her interview happens) website to proceed for medical and interview. Also, she needs to download medical cover letter and social security information sheet from consulate website as part of packet 4.

Also, she needs to complete a new DS-230 form to submit to the VFS, in addition to the one submitted to NVC.

She also needs to pay Rs.365 for passport delivery charges and they will give the receipt for the same. They assured her she can get her passport back by courier in 2 business days after the interview (if visa is granted).

For immigrant visa applicants, there is NO counter collection of the passport after the interview. That's only for non-immigrant visa applicants.

Good luck guys!

Loto

Thanks for the info, Loto! Very helpful, as always! I've sent this info via email to Neetu and I'll get her to give VFS and the consulate a phone call to get details ... Luckily we have a few days to get the details sorted out - because once she has the appointment letter, she'll have to get moving quickly - I hope to have the letter in my hand by early next week so I can scan it for her :)

Today, i called to NVC to check an update on my AOS package. The automated voice response said, "NVC is awaiting on the biographic data form from the petitioner, once this packet is received and allow 4 to 6 weeks to review all your documentation and will notify the outcome on this."

I am not understanding this.. So is my AOS package already entered into the system.. Than i spoke with NVC live operator, she mentioned it was received yesterday to us, allow 2 to 4 weeks for the review. The package itself was delievered on june 10th.

Once it has been entered.. what message will i hear in the automated voice response? or i have to talk to live operator everytime to get an update on that..

bani u will not hear an update for AOS.. u just have to call and speak with the NVC operator and asked if the AOS review has been completed, and if everything is ok..

then the biographic message means they are waiting for the DS230, you can call and ask if it has been entered in the system, after its arrival!

usualy AOS review takes a week.. so u have to make the effort to call and ask on the status of that!

good luck u will be fine!

For immigrant visa applicants, there is NO counter collection of the passport after the interview. That's only for non-immigrant visa applicants.

Ok, this is something which I am still way away from and I am not sure how will I manage NVC stage, but anyways, sinc eyou said there is NO coutner collection for IV visa, I am wondering what will happen to people like me? I come from Port Blair, IF the visa is being granted, can I give out my hotel address for the postal part, and I am also wondering what if things go wrong and I am being put into AP or AR, it will take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months or more to clear that up, I can't stay that long in Chennai if things do happen that way and I will have to go back to Port Blair.

To cut all the confusion, basically I want to know is that, can I change my delivery address anytime I wish for (given how the interview goes) ?

God, I am going to go bald with all this

I'll ask my wife to ask this question to VFS when she goes there on this Tuesday. Your question is if you can give different address than the one on DS-230 to collect the passport, right ?

I've been checking daily for my cases that I paid online at the National Visa Center. I would call almost daily also. This past monday, I tried to logon and couldn't, I received the following message:

Sign In Failed

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error.

I called NVC and they would only say adminstrative processing, I would have to wait more time. OF course when I hear Administrative processing I became concerned, but I decided to wait and see, I called tues, weds... same thing AP... anyway I spoke with a woman at the DOS this morning and she said my wife's CR1 was complete, but was waiting on my son's... I didn't ask at that time, but I was happy... anyway I decided to call back and inquire about my son's... turn out I was waiting and waiting because I included my wife on son's I-864... the papers and instructions in some places seem to tell you to do so and in other places tell you not to. My mistake, but they told me they sent me a letter on June 5, I have not received it yet. The operator did tell me I could fill out another I-864 and send it in and he told me where to fill in... #8, yes #9 n/a #10 0,1 21a 0,1

I just fedexed the corrected one. hopefully, we can proceed to Guz soon. hopefully someone will avoid this little delay in the future.

Evidently, my wife's case was already completed because I got the above message (red). At that time and now I can still login to my son's case online.... so this is the indication his is not complete. It would have been nice if I had gotten more information when I called on monday.
