I am still confused about the I-129F ... When I called the Department of State Visa Center (in D.C.), I got this lady who was not quite understanding my concern - she saw that the I-130 was approved and was explaining to me why that was better than the K3 ... I explained that I knew that part, but I was concerned about whether having the I-129F pending would affect anything - she told me it would not ...

Pushbrk has been saying it should not affect anything and at one point he said "Don't cancel a petition unless you don't want the beneficiary to come to the U.S."

Also, my wife called the US Embassy helpdesk # and got a friendly gentlemen who basically said, "Don't worry, your I-130 is approved, this is just a formality and you'll be fine". I believe he told her also that the I-129F is not an issue ...

Well, I am trying to pursue both routes right now. Both my I-129F and I-130 were approved on the same day and both forwarded to the NVC. I have NVC numbers on both and the IIN number for my I-130. The I-129F was received by the NVC on 6-04 and my I-130 was received on 6-05. I am just waiting for my AOS to be invoiced so I can pay it online. I am hoping that my I-130 will be complete while we are still waiting to go to the interview for the K3, then I could call the embassy and get my K3 interview changed to a CR1 interview. Looking at all of the timelines, if there are no problems, I think this should work.

I do not want to abandon the K3 just in case there is a problem at NVC.

I can't see that there would be a problem with any petitions pending because you do have the option after receiving the K3 to do AOS in the United States, or pursue counseler processing of your I-130 and return to the embassy where your petition is being processed and interview.

How long does it take for the NVC to invoice the AOS so I can pay on-line?

Yes, my hope is that I can be through the NVC with my I-130 beginning to mid July. At the same time, with my K3, my hope is that I can get the packet 3 returned and get an interview for K3 around the end of July. Then I would be able to get that K3 interview date for my CR1, and have visa in hand around the end of July.

My only problem at the moment is my wife is from Lima, Peru. With the help of her father, she is working on getting the three police certificates required from Lima. She is not sure how long that will take. I posted a question about it in the Latin America forum, but nobody has replied to me. We thought we were doing things in plenty of time, but we were very surprised when CSC approved the I-129F and I-130 in only 29 days at the CSC. We weren't expecting the NOA2 until at least sometime in July at the earliest. But I am in no way complaining. But, I estimate that we will not be ready for the police certificates for at least another 3 weeks.

Also, for anyone who is wondering about translations. I spoke to the people at NVC 3 different times about translations and got the same answer. Documents DO NOT need to be translated if they are in English or the language of the country where the Embassy is that is processing your petition. At NVC, they do not read the documents. They have a book that tells them what the names are of the documents that they are looking for. And what words to look for saying that all is good.

NVC operator told me they cannot give the tracking# of the DHL. Is that true ???

You cannot track your specific papers, but if you know when it left NVC, you can track the shipments. just go to - http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef . In the reference number, you put for leaving yesterday, EXP 04 jun 2008a . Then you look for the package going to your embassy. Note - for the date, you would put the day before it was shipped, because this is when it was called in for the pick up.

The AVR message is - "NVC has completed the processing of this case and forwarded to the embassy/consulate at Madras on June 5, 2008. Please contact the consulate for further details..."

Loto, i have a question about VFS offfice visit that you mentioned in your timeline.. since we submitted the original documents here, than also the applicant has to go to the VFS office with the appointment letter.. today i spoke to NVC operator..she mentioned.. NVC will review all the orginal documents for you and you will get them back at the time of your interview.. once you get your appointment letter, you just have to go for medical.. I can relate to your case, because i am from Gujarat.. and my case will be at Mumbai Consulate..

Please let me know on this.. any information.. Helpful all the time..

Just wait till next week. They usually take about a week so I wouldn't worry too much unless its been more than two weeks. You did get an automated reply from them, right?

Last night I made my barcode coversheets so that I am ready when I need them. Question, does anyone know if it matters on the DS230 coversheet if when you type in the names, does it matter if you use all Capital letters or not?
