Mimhnhut, did you or your wife receive the interview/medical letter or you just call NVC to learn of the June 2nd interview? Also, do you know whether or not NVC has sent your case to HCMC already? My case just completed at NVC, and I plan to call them weekly to find out our interview date. I'm looking for a July interview.

Anyway, good luck to all June interviewers and keep us posted!

My wife ( in USA) and I ( in Vietnam) both received the interview letter from NVC . They also wrote that my case has been sent to HCMC already. I just went to Chợ Rẫy Hospital to get the medical examination this morning.

Ours in June 9! I'll do up my timeline and put together a list of what I sent as well as what questions Quyen gets asked in the interview. This place has been so unbelievably helpful I just want to give back. For us, this process has been fairly easy, but now that we're down to the last few bits, it's getting a bit crazy.

I've been searching and reading, but I can't find a concrete answer to this question: If my finance wants to speak viet in the interview, is that ok? She speaks English well enough (and i speak no viet), but she isn't confident and it's stressing her out. Any opinions on this?

Your fiance'd better speak English in the interview , that's easy to get pink slip. If she speak Vietnamese in the interview, the CO may ask her: What everyday language do you communicate.....

If the Consulate website is to be believed, speaking Vietnamese at CR1/IR1 or K visa interview isn't a problem. We had a K1 interview, there was a Vietnamese translator there who translated the questions whether Thi want him to or not. So she didn't have a problem understanding the questions. She did answer every question in English, not Vietnamese.

Thanks Peter...I know the Consulate says that, but as Mimhnhut says it will lead to other questions. Ack, I guess the way to think about it is it "looks" better if she answers in English. Hopefully she experience the same as you and get a Viet translantion in case the consulate is difficult to understand! If not though, I have faith she'll understand...she just needs confidence! :)

Today my wife just stopped by the U.S. Consulate to ask for the interview package. After the rep there asked my wife our case number and the interview date, she told my wife that the US side is responsible to send the letter to my wife. At first I thought the consulate would send the letter to beneficiary and the NVC to the petitioner. So I guess NVC will send the letter both to me and to my wife.

Anyway, after waiting 6 days the U.S. Consulate at HCMC finally replied to me via email. I wish I got this reply before I told my wife to go to the Consulate. Here's the details:

Thank you for your inquiry.

1. Medical examination can be taken before interview date a week or so, after the applicant receives the invitation letter.

2. Your wife can come to our office before the interview date around ten days (in working day), between 1-3 p.m. to request an appointment package.

3. Our office just received the electronic file of this case from the National Visa Center on May 21. The physical file is being shipped to our office.

If you have further inquiries, please do not delete your original email and please include the complete case number (HCM XXXX-XXX-XXX) in all correspondence.

Sincerely,

Just another quick update. Finally, my wife was able to get the appointment package at the Consulate. She got both the vaccinations and medical exam done in one day. By the way, Cho Ray Hospital also takes US dollars now ($100).

Anyway, I was looking at the info on P4. It asks for the original Police Certificate. Failure to bring the required documents could result in delaying of the visa application. However, we already sent the orginal to NVC as required. The CO will definitely have access to all the submitted originals. I'm worry about the Vietnamese staffs there when they examine the documents in the right order before the actual interview is taken place. It's hard to explain to them the new rule that HCMC just switched to Appointment Post and that originals are submitted at NVC now. Hopefully, I'll receive the reply from HCMCinfo@state.gov before the interview so I can print and attach that reponse.
