I too have been following the tale and I'm so sorry it ended this way - I belive what others have said is true tho - you haven't limped along for years unhappily - EITHER of you; and if she's returning to her birth country then maybe she wasn't using you for a GC afterall.

I wish you the best for the future, though right now you probably feel hurt, betrayed and unwilling to even contemplate a 'next time' (and I can't blame you there) but don't feel foolish - sometimes things don't work out however much we want them to and maybe its nobodys 'fault' it didnt work out this time.

Quite possible, but I suspect that if that were the case, why would an alien, having gone through all of the process to acquire the visa, even activate it if she had no interest in remaining. From what I can recall the cracks appeared in her facade within 10 days of arrival. Just as Robert communicated to us, as humans, despite attempts to conceal, we tend to telegraph our innermost thoughts. He sensed something was wrong before finding the emails. Perhaps she also sensed that this was not going to be as easy as she had initially perceived. No, what comes to mind here for me is "sometimes even the best laid plans go awry".

Nevertheless, she has chosen the difficulties she will face if planning to stay in the country. Unfortunately, Robert had no choice in this matter. This unpleasant situation was foisted upon him. Here's hoping that his heart will allow him to heal soon.
