Hi everyone,

This is the first time I have posted on here although I must admit I have been lurking and reading your

posts for a long time.

My husband and I have been gathering our documents and will be sending all of our I-130/DCF-related

documents to the US Embassy in Ankara next week. We just got married last month (we live in Istanbul)

but we've decided to try our luck in the US -- for now, anyway!

I was feeling confident about the process but as I don't think there are many Turkey DCF-ers on here,

I'm not 100% sure about some things.

1) We noticed that on the US Embassy website in Ankara they have instructions in Turkish and English,

but they're different! The Turkish has more detailed instructions, ie more information needed or extra

copies needed, etc, so we're going with that. Is it possible to send too much information with the I-130

application?

2) I-864 and the "domicile" requirement..... I have been living in Turkey for quite some time but we

are lucky and have saved a significant amount of money. Our plan is to go to the US and stay with

my parents for a while until we can locate good jobs. Do you think they will make me go back to the

US before my husband to set up a domicile?? (I really hope not!!!) This is the only part that's making

me nervous because I really don't want to go back without my husband.

3) Is there anyone on here who has gone through DCF in Turkey? I would love to hear about it if you

have, especially timelines.

Thanks and kendine iyi bak!

For demonstrating domicile in DCF cases things are a bit easier, since it is designed for folks like us where both partners live abroad.

perhaps the USC kept his/her voter's registration, driver's license, credit card statements sent to the US? We did not have any problems with domicile.

And I've heard there is no such thing as too much evidence... just don't overwhelm them: send exactly what they ask for.

Peace,L.

OK, thanks for the tip! I didn't think that too much information would be a bad thing, but you never know!

Also, I'm the USC and I just recently got my driver's license renewed in the US and get mail sent to my

parents' house (where we intend to move temporarily). Hopefully that will help us with the domicile issue!
