Yes there are. Those are, however, not the countries we should comparing ourselves to but rather are the one's we like to lecture about their human rights violations, lack of freedom and so on. The left on the other hand has been doing overt censorship. They censor anything they don't like. Take talk radio. They tried to compete and time after time no one tuned in. Dunno mate - censorship is only one aspect what is a rather complicated subject.

One thing that goes generally unmentioned is the issue of media ownership - IMO that influences the quality of media content to a greater degree than the political bias of individual networks or programs.

Unfortunately this is one area where the unfettered free market approach doesn't do much for the diversity and quality of media output.

Take a look at the media ownership rules that the FCC recently overturned - now your Rupert Murdoch type media tycoon can roll into town and buy up every newspaper, radio and TV station going.
