Reinhard,

If you'll read post #9 above, you'll see what I think of what will happen in my state and why, and yes unfortunately it has to do with the color of the man's skin.

And that's all I am saying: that somehow what many have been looking to accomplish over the last 40-50 years in regards to overcoming the racial divide has somehow not quite registered in that part of the country. Personally, I don't think that you need to look for hills or mountain cabins to find hillbillies. You may call hillbillies that live away from hills rednecks. Quite frankly, that's all the same to me.

And that, my friend, is stereotyping.

I am stereotyping because I don't see any value in distinguishing between hillbillies and rednecks? Interesting.

Hillbillies are people who live in the hills/mountains of appalachia, are usually uneducated, have very conservative values, make their living pretty much any way they can - lumber mill, trapping, mining, etc. - and tend to be very religious.

Rednecks are people from the south who, due to labouring in the fields all day long, have a sunburn on their neck. (Usually their arms, too.) They tend to be conservative, religious, and hard-working.

Obviously, not everyone who lives in Appalachia is a hillbilly, nor is everyone from the south a redneck. The terms were created to describe very distinct groups of people from the 2 regions.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

So, your critical eye has focused on my home state Herr Reinhard. How's the racial climate in Germany these days? It was a little less than tolerant in 1986-88, but that was a while back.

What's up with taking this all that personal? I know that Germany has a large problem accepting people of other races. That's a damn shame if you ask me. And there's nothing wrong with pointing that out. The question is, can you be as accepting of certain undesirable facts in your home state without getting all defensive?

Sure. As long as they are presented as facts, and not by cartoonish condescending photographs.

I'm not being defensive. I know racism exists in WV. I'm merely asking a person who seems real critical of the State of my birth a legitimate question about the place of their birth. Sounds like I struck a nerve.

What nerve do you think you struck? I can acknowledge uncomfortable, even embarrassing facts about my country of origin without getting all flustered about it. Racism is alive and well in Germany. No doubt about it. There are places there that I wouldn't go with my wife and daughter.

Get over them pics already. Those were clearly east TN hillbillies. There, feel better now?

No I don't.

Because in my opinion, you acted no better than individuals in those particular areas of Germany when you posted those photos.

Well, see what you know. Those individuals actually beat and kill people of other races. Not sure who you think I beat and killed.
