Three Cups of Tea is awesome! I just did it for Book group last month

EAT, Love, Pray by Elizabeth Gilbert is a great one too.

I just finished reading "Girls of Riyadh"....kinda chic-lit, but set in Saudi Arabia.

Was it like Women of Sand and Myrrh? I was thinking about that book too and how it's a good character development for women in film series in mena. Though I wouldn't make it as dramatic as say Egyptian Soap Operas.

I really enjoyed Three Cups of Tea. Greg Mortenson came and spoke at my campus during his book tour. I missed it though. Just ####### for tat.

I haven't read this entire thread but have any of you read The house of Sand and fog? I started it and it is absolutely awesome! They say the movie is great too!

I haven't read house of sand and fog but I did see the movie and it turned me off. The Director made it up to me though with his film "The Life Before Her Eyes" also based on a book.

amazon-kindle_468.jpg

The Kindle 2.0 was supposed to come out Feb. 9th this year.

I want a Kindle! It can hold over 6,000 books or scripts that I can download off of Amazon for a fraction of the price I'd pay for hard cover and paperback is even cheaper! It's just like reading words on paper with no illumination from the screen and it's designed like a book. You need exterior light to read it just like shining light on the paper of your text book. I really like that it's designed like a book but with a keyboard that you can tap notes into.

If I am at a party and someone asks have you read such and such I can say no I haven't but I'm about to and download it right there minutes after we talked about it!

Bridget was talking about it last week on one of daily threads I believe. She wants one too! Hehe

I love to read tho I do not have much time these days. I download everything offline mostly or by used off Amazon for near pennies. I'm to cheap to pay for a Kindle and then pay them for books too.

Waleed said the same thing. That he can download books for free and read them on his mobile. I thought that's fine but he lives in copyright infringement world where they aren't coming after people in lower income worlds for all their illegal downloads.

Olivia, I'd be interested in book club again.

Also, wanted to recommend a book my sister sent me to read. I guess it's kind of a historical fiction, but an interesting & entertaining read however you want to categorize it. Nefertiti by Michelle Moran - check it out.

Awesome! Mom says for my graduation present she'll get me the Kindle 1.0. It's not the Kindle 2.0 but it's waaaaaaay cheaper.

I'll have to download that book for my long long long flight.

Lets do the mena summer book club on fB this time using the visual bookshelf application. I've already got 20 friends on it.
