WV $3.95.....

Is anybody yet to the point where they are putting more money in their tank each month than their car payment?

i reached that point a long time ago since the camaro and truck don't have any payments.

Well, instead of one-upping each other, why don't we ask the question this way?

Is anybody yet to the point where they will likely spend more in gasoline (over the time they own the car) than they did for their car?

well i answered your question!

i suppose it's possible one can spend more than they did for a car:

200,000 miles on a 22k car @ 30 mpg = 6666 gallons, times $4 a gallon = 26,666.66

yet it's in question if some cars can make 200k though.

i'm sure my neighbor, who's truck gets about 12 mpg, has already passed the point of paying more than he did for the truck.

Lots of people have chosen small cars in the past for reliability as well as the mileage factor. That's always made sense IMO since a car is basically the most expensive disposable thing a person will ever purchase.

When looking at how much it's costing you to run a car, it makes even more sense to pay as little for it as you possibly can.

I just saw an article on how the Missouri rivers will be effected this weekend and on through summer because of the high price of fuel for boats. I never really even thought of that till this morning.

what's a real rip off is the gas shouldn't have the road tax included if it's used for a boat.

we payed about $3.90/gallon the other day... spent 40 bucks and it didn't even fill up the tank.. when we first got the car, almost 3 years ago, it cost about 25 bucks to fill it up :o

I know I was filling up my Honda Civic in 2000 for about $12.......................

When we got gas at the weekend, the highest I saw was, $3.83, but that was a few days ago now, so I'm sure it has got higher. This is in Rhode Island. We filled up my husbands car, I think we put in $44 dollars and that didn't fill up the tank.

Still in retrospect, it's still cheaper than a lot of other countries right now. My dad back in England, told me it cost him over 50 pounds to fill up his car, so thats what? around $100!:help::o

There were saying on average, it is 35 to 55 cents more per gallon. Cabin cruisers could actually cost $1,500 or so to fill. I was shocked.

Wonder why it's so high?

because they are screwing the customer. i always filled up away from the lakes, but in theory it should be cheaper to fill up on the lake.

Interesting. I wonder if this will lead to the day of affordable automobiles for every American again?

My Volvo 940 is about to turn over 270k once the brakes are replaced. It is otherwise fine. Still on its first transmission, if you can believe it.

My husband's Subaru Legacy is 190k. It will probably make it to 200k. Dunno if we are really going to keep it after that.
