Sorry, what is LPG?

Thank God we also have LPG which costs $2.25 a gallon.

The federal government is giving people a $2,000 grant to convert to LPG.

LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas, also known as Autogas) is a mixture of Butane & Propane.

Advantages:

1 It is easy to liquify at normal temperatures.

2 It is around half the price of petrol or diesel.

3 It has a number of environmental benefits.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I filled up this morning here in Boston at $3.699 for regular.

I'm starting my carpool next week. I kind of decided that I didn't want to deal with it, but I felt so much pressure. :crying:

Lets not confuse the members of OPEC for the west now. The clear solution is that we develop technology to get vehicles off oil and basically tell OPEC where to shove their oil. But while that happens we need to drill any oil field available to America.

OPEC is not relenting on barrel prices or increasing production. Meanwhile, big oil companies are posting record profits.

F'em all.....

Edit to add: Even with the untapped oil sources in the US, there is too much opposition to drill for it. Either way, it would not be enought to sever the OPEC ties.

Chavez, Putin and Ahmadinajab are making billions from this oil boom. The only difference is that they are not some american company to open up their books for us to see. The oil companies make money because people continue to use it. After all the United States has not built a new refinery or drilled offshore for decades now..

And I have never seen any other options such as LPG explored here. Or bio-diesel etc..

I was just reading an article which predicts fuel will cost over $6 a gallon within the next five years. Which will truly make driving unfordable to a lot of people.

There is a hypothesis going around there are thousands of already drilled, pressurized, capped, and untapped oil wells across the United States. Those random cylinders sticking out of farmers fields across the US are those unused oil wells that the oil companies are sitting on for when the US and other countries finishing buying up all the worlds oil. Then we will be the last resource of oil and make a killing on it while the regions that are supplying the oil now are out of their resource and become bankrupt or live off the money they are accumulating now if they save it and distribute it to their country. ie. Norway

The oil companies are sitting on the US oil because it's like getting land rich later. I wonder if there is any truth to this?

As you know, most other industrialized nations pay much more for gasoline than their US counterparts. The average US consumer will eventually adjust, as expected. It was bound to happen.
