Cindy McCain says she'll never release her tax returns

I was watching a TV programme about how much the presidential candidates (and hubby or wife) are worth and it was this:

The McCains $40 million

The Clintons - $35 million

The Obamas - $1 million.

I guess I just can't see how someone who is worth $40 million (or $35 million for that fact) can identify with Joe Public. Just my 2cents.

It certainly makes the whole "elitism" rationale somewhat redundant.

But hey that's more cherrypicking against the character issue.

I dare someone to show ONE common* serious prez candidate in history....

*in terms of income at the time of their campaign...

Does Cindy McCain tax returns have anything to do with McCain presidency, who knows, but I will tell you this, the republicans are going to come at the demarcates hard core, and hell ya I want to see her tax returns, she is sleeping with the Candidate for president of the United States, just like when Ms. Clinton and the scrutiny she endured during her husband’s years in the White House. What she got to hide? Let it out girlfriend, cause you can bet if Ms. Obama stated she would not reveal her tax returns, the republicans and fox noise would be all over that like a cheap #######. I say, open up Cindy B)
did you make as much racket about monica lewinksky's tax returns also?

Was Bill married to her and/or used her corporate jet at discount rates for his campaign? If the answer is no, then your comparison won't work.

:bonk: he flew his jumbo jet using her cockpit.

Good point.

I think she was unwise to say this because now she has made it a matter of principle. She will be hounded to release them but "on principle" she will say she shouldn't have to and so there will always be something to hang over her head. If she releases then, people will say she is unprincipled. If she does not, people will say she has something to hide. Whereas if she had just said, I don't really have to do this, but just so that no one imagines . . .

As for Hillary, she was under criminal investigation. She was required by law to reveal things about her finances and professional activities. C. McCain is, by law, not required to reveal her tax returns.

I guess "Never!" really means "I'm not ready yet...":

Cindy McCain Releases ‘06 Tax Returns

Records show $6 million in total income, taxes of $1.7 million.

Comes weeks after she said she would not release them, pointed to her filing separately from her husband.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
