So, what has happened since her OP a few months ago?

If it were me, I would've stayed and fought. I'm not a very good runner.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I'm no expert, but it doesn't sound like bi-polar to me. Sounds like depression. Leaving your family, your job, your home, your comfort zone to move to a new country, new relationship is a real hard task, some simply have a much harder time dealing with the separation from what they were used to than others. For some the adjustment period lasts years and years. Depression I think is more common in immigrants than we think, but its either not diagnosed (lack of medical care), or simply thought of as the old "adjustment period". I'd bet the OPs husband had signs while he was still here (the constant fighting, stressed out, talks of unhappiness, disturbed sleep patterns) that may have been disregarded.

Marriage is to be there for each other, in good times & in bad. What does it say if everyone tells the OP, at the first sign of a medical condition to run like heck? Maybe that's why divorce statistics are so high... some dont try hard enough.

To the OP: If this is in fact depression, it is very treatable. With some medication & talk therapy, you can get your husband back to how he was before. Please be there for your husband, he needs you now more than ever. (F)
