i already read it but i want to know from real experience thats all

They were written by people who have the real experience. What is in the guides is the same information as you're asking for.

Go through the guides, go through the USCIS instructions for each form you're filling in. If you have any specific questions about something, ask and we'll help.

Remember, this is your application, not ours. We're here to help, not do it for you.

We used the AOS guide, followed it to the letter, and were approved without an interview.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

The 90 day EAD from POE cannot be renewed, you apply for a 1 year EAD at the same time you file for AOS, there is no extra charge for EAD based on AOS.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3ead

SSN is only available to a K-1 within 76 days of entry, after that and you will need EAD or Green-card to get SSN, many report it easier to get SSN before marriage in maiden name.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Mohammed,

We are going down today to apply for the SSN. I was told that he needs his unexpiered I94 which was stapled in his passport, American Visa and Egyptian passport and was told also by SS to bring our marriage certificate. They gave me a few forms to fill out when I went down there just to double check...here's the link. I would have this filled out before you go.

SS APP

We will let you know if there is anything you can learn from our experience with the SS#. He forgot to get his work EAD from JFK but by the time he gets his SSN he will probably have been here a month and we figured not many people would hire somebody with only two month's left on his work authorization. This we learned from VJ experience with other K1 fiancee's. I'm sure every situation is different though. Best of luck!

The answers to most of these questions are either in the Guides provided here or are specific to the state you live in or depend on 'processing time'.

HELLO ALL . we will file for AOS soon . what papers we will need (Reading the Guides will answer this question) . and how long it will take? (Depends on current processing times at your local office or if your case gets transfered to CSC...the processing time there. This is not something anyone can answer as timelines vary greatly.)

about the EAD i get it from POE for 90 days . should i file for it again? (You just answered your own question...you got an EAD from the POE for 90 days....which means it is valid for 90 days. If you want another one, then yes, you file for it again. The Guides will tell you, that you can choose to file for it at the time you do file your AOS documents, and there is no extra charge if you apply for EAD in conjunction with AOS.)

and SSN can we file it right after we get the marriage certificate and how long it will take.

anyone have experience with that (You can apply for your SSN roughly 2 weeks after you arrive in the US, but if you wait and apply a couple of weeks before the expiration of your I-94, they may deny your SSN application and tell you to come back after you've gotten your greencard. You're a man, therefore the name change is not an issue....so after you've been here about two weeks, print out the SSN application provided by "t and a" and go to your nearest SSN office to hand the app. in. )

thanks in advance

You posted your question on a public forum...you're going to get answers that you may not agree with. The very nature of a public forum allows everyone can post an answer to any question. Its not a matter of "if you don't like my question don't answer" so there's no reason to be rude. RaTBox was not rude to you, he/she merely suggested you do some research first and then post specific questions.

I can't see anywhere in my post where I did say you asked me to do it for you. You didn't ask anyone specific for help, you made a post on a public forum asking for help, and as a public reader of this forum I made a reply. If you don't want to open yourself to criticism and questions on a public forum, then don't post something that can bring about such things.

You made a post with the most vauge of questions, the answers of which could be found instantly if you read the USCIS official instructions on the process you're going to go through, or the guides on this forum written by individuals who have gone through the same process. Your post gave the impression you have done no prior research into your own situation before making a post asking for help. If you are having trouble understanding the basic concepts and procedures of an Adjustment of Status application, then I strongly recommend you hire an immigration lawyer to assist you.

Probably should have gotten your SS card first, before marrying....though I don't think that should have anything to do with it. Your I-94 is valid yet until the expiration at 90 days. Those who enter the US with a K-1 are eligible for a SS card, but are sometimes turned away when applying. Go to another SS office....and use only your passport w/ the K-1 visa in it, showing your I-94. I don't remember, but I don't think the SS car application necessitates proof of marriage....does it?

If not, then yes, you will have to wait until you get your EAD, which can take as long as it takes for USCIS to process and approve your EAD.

I applied for my SSN 2 weeks after arrival in the USA but the card never got to me. I went back with the marriage cert and they ordered a new one in my marriage name and i got it within 10 days so i suggest you go to an other SSO and try it again.

Good luck!

My fiance got her SSN before getting married, actually we applied for her SSN on our marriage date, as we did a Civil Ceremony and SS was just next door. Since we didnt yet receive our Marriage License at the time, she applied using her maiden name and just presented an expired I-94 to get the card. The SS here gets the majority of applicants like ourselves so it was no big deal, and got her SS card within 8 business days. My wife now cant work until she gets her EAD processed which will be about 2 months from now as we just submitted our AOS following the exact instructions as noted on the http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos (AOS guidelines) as suggested. Hope this helps.

we're preparing for AOS application too, with my SSN experience, I applied for it in my maiden name because I should have a SSN to get a marriage license. Then I got the SSN card just after a week. Then after we got married, we went back to Social Security office to have my card changed to my married name. We showed them our marriage certificate and my unexpired I-94 in my passport, they took my old SSN card(maiden name) back, it was a breeze. After a week I got a new SSN card with my married name already! The card has a note that says "Valid for Work Only with DHS Authorization". The office will only allow changes to the card only on 2weeks before your I-94 expires.

Hope this helps..

As for my AOS requirements, I'm still in the middle of collecting all of them.. Let me know what's on your lists, maybe I'm missing something.
