do i need my police report before i can send packet 3 back or can i just check it off and have it with me by the time my interview comes?

It would be wise to have all Your needed documents before sending back Your packet 3. What happens if they make Your interview appointment prior to Your rounding up all Your needed documents?

Depends on how quickly your embassy issued interview dates. It takes 40 days to get Police Clearance in the UK so most of us send the pk3 back before we have the certificate because London is taking 6-8 to process cases.

The police report and other items on the checklist are for you to take with you to the interview. You do not need to mail them in with the signed checklist. :yes:

BTW, it took the full 40 days for us to receive my husband's report so you should request it as soon as you can. ;)

17-Jan-06: RFE from TX due to "lack of payment"; USCIS won't accept credit card form from Embassy

It is much quicker in canada to receive your police report. I belive the OP discussed the wait time in the canadian Forum. As long as one doesnt require finger printing (had criminal record) or requires a police check from another country, he should be good to go!! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

good memory! yes it takes about 5 minutes in banff and costs $15
