does anyone know what happens to the envelope that the embassy gives you when you receive your visa? i know you give it to your point of entry but do they open it there? also do they give you back any papers that are in that envelope, like the birth certificate? thanks!

I believe it includes a copy of your original petition, and some medical information.. if I'm not mistaken... But don't open it :)

Some people also bring their chest X rays along, just in case, because CBP can ask for it, if they want to.

Yeah I know, it doesnt make sense. You will need to get another photocopy for when you file the AOS. Everything that the Embassy has for your I-129f case stays in the envelope and you probably wont be getting it back. I dont know why they need another if they already have it, then again, I have learned not to ask questions when it comes to the USCIS ;)

You should submit photocopies of evidence like birth certificates and show the original at the interview.

If he hasn't already had his interview (I lost track of the time!) he could get an original back, but it's unlikely from the POE on.

I dont honestly think they will give you anything at POE!!!

you should realy always take the original plus a copy of all documents to the interview, otherwise you will have to apply for a new one!!

Hey, congrats on the interview success! Can you link me to his interview experience or ask him to jot down some details? I know there is at least one Athens K-1 here looking for info on the packet 3 that you could really help... :) Her nick is Bunnygr (I think!)

Anyway, he can ask really nicely at the POE (big smile, I'm such a doofus etc) and see if they will make a copy to keep in his file and return the original to him. No guarantees, but it never hurts to ask.

I would put in an application for a new BC at home and ask Mana to keep an eye on that and fwd him a new copy when it comes through. I know it's hard to get.. that's why we got like 6 certified copies of our marriage cert from the Dimos--I can only imagine trying to get a copy today, from here---ay yi yi!
