My friend has a H1B visa for over 6 years. She wants move to another company and can't. How can se get out of the H1B visa and get a permanant green card. Is this possible.

I want to help her cause i've done my husbands visa and i've done my own in england when i lived here. I'm good at this now. But I don't know much about the H1B visa.

Can she get a greencard????

Thanks to all that reply!

Look at the I-485... See if there is provisio for that. I do believe H1-B is diual intent.

YMMV

I don't think your friend can do it herself, I think the company that got her the H1B has to do it on her behalf. The best thing she can do is speak to them or their lawyers.

Hello...I don't believe she can do it herself. Her employer can file for her a green card through employment form you can find on the USCIS.gov web site. Her employer should also know what to do when it comes to that situation. My fiance was here on a H1B visa for 3 years and someone that came with him on the same type of visa ended up meeting and marrying a girl while he was here working. Good Luck to her!!

Yes, her employer will have to file the I-140 to get a visa number for her. Once the I-140 is approved, she can then file for AOS.
