I recently sent our I 751 to Texas. My wife wants to go back to China for a few months and I am wondering what to do about travel plans. She needs her NOA to travel since her GC would expire during her travels. She will also need to be in the states for her bio.

Should I get an appointment now for her I-155 stamp while waiting for NOA receipt and hope her bio comes soon and also what timeline might I expect for her to get the bio done. Of course both of these issues must be done for her to travel. Any thoughts out there..Thanks

You might need to show your 'postal' receipt of having mailed the I751 in order to get the stamp (or the biometrics appointment letter). Good Luck

My friend just filed LOC and got their bio within a month of sending it off.

I would not travel until the biometrics unless it is going to be a very short trip of a week or less. Missing or postponing the bio only adds time to the LOC.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

How recent is recent? My bio appointment arrived about 2 weeks prior to the appointment and was received about a month after my application was received in Texas. The file was transferred to Vermont about 2 weeks after it was received at TSC although I didn't know that until I was able to access my on line status with my biometrics case number.

Regardless, I would definitely make an INFOPASS appointment and get the stamp in her passport because Texas is not sending out NOA extension letters. She will need the stamp to extend the validity of her green card for a year. If your wife can put off her travel plans until after the bio, well and good. If not, then when the bio appointment arrives you will have to reschedule for a time that she can make it, and that will add additional time to the processing.

While I brought proof of filing with me, they didn't need it at my appointment - just my unexpired passport and my greencard. They accessed the information through my A#.

To travel for a few months-might be too long. Biometrics are often scheduled within first month of submission. You can reschedule it but usually reschedule dates are a few weeks later. Ask if somebody rescheduled for a much later appt.
