I don't know but being in kentucky you are in a place where people love horses (that is to ride not eat) and i don't think you will find any there.

It is funny that I read this post. When I was talking to my fiance she mentioned horse meat and I felt like heaving.

I had to explain the culural difference. How in the US we view such animals like people. Similar to dog and cat. Most people who have these animals view them as family members. To us the thought is repugnant because in our minds it it comparable to eating your brother or sister.

She did not quite understand. All I could say was that when you are in America you will learn more of cultural differences and then understand more.

I did consent to trying some horse meat but.. lucky for me... I did not get the chance. hehe

Kumis, mares milk, sounds very interesting. Getting drunk while drinking milk would be a change! hehe

Perhaps you could find someone that would sell you a horse and they would slaughter it for you. Most people on farms have no problem slaughtering animals that they sell. The only problem that you'll have is finding one open-minded enough to agree to it. (That, and you might want to check the legality of slaughtering a horse for human consumption. That may not even be legal in Ky.) If you explain that you're from another country and that's what you do there, maybe they'll be able to help. Good luck!

javaman,

There is probably no horse meat in America.

https://community.hsus.org/humane/notice-de...tter_id=3747281

By the way, is there a special word for "horse meat"? "Cow meat" is beef, "pig meat" is pork :)
