Before interview Nerves

OK, I though we'd have WAY more time to relax before this interview, but we've been busy, busy, busy, trying to mop of the last of the details. I've got big-time gastro-intestinal problems, and Mai fell dead asleep yesterday in the waiting room of Cho Ray hospital, where we had to wait over 3 hours for the medical results.

This is too terrible. Mai and I have actually been snapping at each other a little bit, which we NEVER do. I hope everything turns out well, not only for us, but for all of you.

Actually, when I went to Vietnam for Thi's interview, we were in a similar state. I hadn't finished everything and she was worried crazy that her English would keep her from getting her visa. We were stressed too. But we managed to get enough done (I had wanted to have a timeline cover letter for every month of our chats/emails but I only got 4 done out of the 9 months so I didn't submit any of the cover letters, just the chats/emails organized by date). So she got the pink.

Just to let you know, waiting for her to finish the interview is the worst......... You think of everything that could be asked that you didn't cover, something you should have finished and submitted but didn't, etc........... And if you wait across the street from the Consulate, there's lots of people wanting to sell you stuff, etc. And if you don't speak Vietnamese very well like me, you have almost no one to talk to..... That's one reason I counted how many people wear helmets now in HCMC........

You think you've got problems!!!! Just kidding.

I think it's normal to be anxious. Hell, I know it is. You guys do the best you can and see what the results are. In the meantime take a breath and enjoy your time there. Just keep in mind that you're going to prevail, no matter what. You've got a host of cases to refer to on this site. Most get through eventually. You've already retained the best Immigration Lawyer in H.C.M.C., so if the Powers That Be want to make problems send him in. It'll get done.

I know about the gastro! Luckily I took some Cipro with me and it knocked it out (twice).

I have a lawyer here in the states but I am not very comfortable with them. Can you tell me the name of the "best" lawyer in HCMC that you refer to. I think I will have Xuan check him out. Of course I have already paid for the lawyer I have here in the states. His name is Miles Hampton from Hampton and Hampton out of Navada. Anyone had any experience with him?

This is usually the point where people will post that you don't need a lawyer. Depends on the case, couple, etc.

Thank you for the name and even more for the second link to Mr. Ellis himself. I sent a message to him and I hope he will respond. I know many people say you do not need a lawyer but I did not know about this site untill after I paid the lawyer I have in full.

My fiancée and I are in a similar situation. Her interview is this upcoming Wednesday and tensions between the both of us are running high. I found out yesterday that she hasn't been studying with her teacher because she feels that she can handle it by herself. To say the least, I was not happy when I heard this. I am just hoping that all will go well. It feels like we have been waiting forever for this and the last thing that we need at this point is more problems.

I wish you and your fiancée best of luck. Just hang in there and be as supportive as possible because though it is rough on you, it is rougher on her.
