Hi all,

I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me with a bad situation. My best friend had been in the U.S. for two and half years on a TN Visa (work visa). She ended up meeting an American guy and getting married in Oct. 2005. She applied for AOS late last year and her interview was scheduled for two weeks ago. About two months ago her husband died suddenly from pneumonia at 34 years old. As if that wasn't tragic enough, she still had to go through with the interview and just found out today that her Green Card was denied. She's now wondering if she can reapply for a work visa (she's a nurse and in very high demand) or if she simply has no choice but to return to Canada.

Has anyone had any experiences of anything similar? Any thought would help.

thanks.

I am sorry to hear of her loss :(

I would assume there is nothing stopping her from applying for another work visa, but I highly doubt she can stay here while it's being processed.

It is my understanding that a denial of AOS is not a denial of a visa per se, so should not affect her application.
