Hi,

Just wondering if theres anyone out there waiting for their montreal interview and how long it took to schedule it? I thought it only took 2 months to get an interview date but now I'm hearing 6 months! Do you get to pick your own date or do they give you one?

Any help would be great! Thank you!

hey - try posting in the canada forum and you may get a faster response. i believe the wait time has gone up but i am not positive if it's 6 months. if it is 6 months, then that is just plain ridiculous - i would be quite irate!

You can see there the averages and individual wait times we're all going through at the moment. It's taking 2-3 months right about now.

Oh, and you most definitely do not get to pick your own date. You wait and wait and wait to hear from them and then you get what they give you.

Thank you for those links! I will have a look at them. We just booked a 2 week trip out to Australia in September for my husbands best friends wedding... I really hope the interview will not be scheduled then! Ah! I dont know what I would do! The tickets were so expensive! I actually hope that our interview will be way before then but we've heard nothing on our case since January and we filed our K-3 in October!

Is there a consulate in Halifax too, or is Montreal the only one that's doing interviews?

I'm not really sure if the timeline for interview wait for K-3's is the same as for K-1's. If you did happen to get your interview for that time period, you would ask them to reschedule your interview, and would unfortunately then be placed back at the end of the line. But look at that as a worst-case scenario kind of thing on the off chance the two coincide. Or perhaps you could email the consulate now and ask not to have your interview during that timeslot? I'm not sure if that would be worth a shot.

There might be a consulate but they don't do K interviews there. Only Montreal and Vancouver do them. And only Montreal for ... um, I think it's CR-1 applicants? But if you are a K filer you will go through Montreal.
