I don't agree with your premise that educating children is ever inappropriate. However, looking at your numbers, what would be the alternative? If you don't educate these kids, you'll be creating an underclass of uneducated teenagers and adults who will be more likely to turn to crime which will only make things worse. How is that better than fronting the bill now? Prison is a lot more expensive per capita than school.

Why does this responsibility lie on the United States. Is it right that I fly to Sweden have a baby there and then expect them to pay for me. I am more than happy to pay my share of taxes but not when it comes to paying for 20,000,000 people who took it on themselves to jump the line, literally jump the fence, and basically force me to subsidize their lives. And then have the audacity to wave their flag in my face.

Did this kid do that though?

I get the whole illegal immigrant thing, but I don't see what the big deal is about a goddamned flag. Why is it so threatening to some people?

Maybe the boy scouts never let them be in the color guard as children and now they have to redirect their anger toward an inanimate object.

Yeah really. Surely there are stress toys for that.

i don't think anybody feels threatened by the mexican flag. in this thread 2 issues w/ the flag are being lumped together.

there is nothing wrong w/ someone showing pride in their heritage (which is all this kid was doing)...i've got an italian flag tattoo on my leg. nothing wrong w/ that.

when the mexican flag is displayed during a pro illegal immigration march or rally. while demanding rights & amnesty for people that have knowingly broken the laws of this country. it is disrespectful & wrong.

they are totally different things.

Perhaps - but as I say you need only to look back a few months at the folks cheering that idiot for cutting down a flag outside a convenience store, because he didn't like how it was positioned above the US flag.

Its not all flags anyway we're talking about anyway - its one flag. The Mexican flag.

ok. again you're talking about something different. the idiot that cut that flag down did so IMO- coz it was being flown above an american flag on the same pole inside the united states.(the shop owner didn't know it may be illegal or that it might upset anyone, but it did & not only the vet that cut it down)

Sure - I'm just pointing out that an otherwise trivial event (and lets face it - cutting down a flag outside of a convenience store - it doesn't get sillier than that) seems to get people's blood pumping about illegals and having to "press '2' for English".

Whether its illegal or not doesn't matter (and we're not talking about a law that the police are going to bust their #######'s to enforce, nor should they really... regardless of whether or not people are offended by it) these things are taken way more seriously (and personally) than they should be.

Surely there's more to the issues here than taking umbrage over someone's choice of flag, or indeed - how they choose to display it.

There are Mexicans in Idaho? :o

There are alot in Idaho.

There too. Spreading like a plague..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
