Folks

I had been to the Mumbai consulate to notarize the I-134 for K3 interview of my spouse, the vice consul refused to notarize saying that as of present this form doesn't need to be notarized? I did ask him to notarize it as i wanted it to be done with, he commented we dont want to charge u for unwanted notarization so trust him that its not needed.

has anyone encountered or aware of this new change?

thanks

Form 1-134 still has a place to notarize. Petitioner is the one having to notarize or get affirmed by consular if they are outside the US.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

An I-134 has a place for notarization and, if used, should be notarized but the form itself is not an actual requirement. Consular officers tend to vary in their opinions on this but if presented with the explanation the petitioner attempted to have it notarized at the Consulate but was told it wasn't necessary, I'm sure it will fly. Remember, the form itself isn't binding on the signer and the notarization requirement has been taken off the I-864 which actually is binding.
