After hearing nothing about our AOS interview for two months, we received a notice for a 2nd interview. I believe we will be having a Stokes interview, as it says in big bold letters that the interview will be videotaped. I am totally shocked and the only thing I can think of is that our body language was terrible since we had been arguing about arriving late, the officer was pissed at us, and she did not like the fact that hubby was staying with a friend during the week due to commuting issues while we looked for a new place to live (I saw her write that down in RED pen).

My basic questions are:

Do I need to get a lawyer?

Has anyone else had this experience with a successful outcome?

How can we prepare?

Thanks

That sucks man! Make a search on the forum, I've seen some stories about people that have gone through this hassle. Good luck! you will be fine! You will not be denied because your relationship is true, just tell yourself that you know better than them ;)

All interviews are videotaped.

Is this right?

:o I don't know. I didn't notice anything at our interview. Unless there was a hidden camera somewhere in the room.

All interviews are videotaped.

I don't think all interviews are videotaped. If so they would make us aware of that. Unless you have mistaken the security cameras in the office.

It says the interviews are taped on all letters notifying of and AOS interview. Perhaps this second letter it sticks out more, but its on the initial letter nonetheless.

In al notices it states that : Note: Every adult (over 18 years of age) ... ... ... We may record or videotape your interview.

I would assume that this doesn't mean they do it but they could if they wanted to.

If your letter is for a second interview - do a search on this forum for 'stokes' and read up on the questions they might ask you e.g. how many windows in your house etc. Good Luck

My letter says:

THIS INTERVIEW WILL BE VIDEOTAPED

Well, I am meeting with an attorney on Monday and he'll probably be postponing the interview so we can prepare.

Has anyone on here ever been denied? Are appeals ever accepted? I'm starting to freak out a bit here....

Wow. I guess it varies. My interview letter says nothing about video or audio recording. Interesting...

  • 1 year later...

Me and my husband just had our stokes interview in October and recieved a i130 approval in the mail today.

ourinterview was a breeze, it was tape recorded, not video recorded.

I was SO scared when I was there, and of course i got him scared.. Its not like we had anything to be scared about, but It made me nervous having someone "pry"..

But everything was a breeze, the officer was Lovely, and it may have had something to do with the fact there was a trainee girl there with him, so he wanted to give a good impression on her. But I dont want to get too excited because now im waiting for the rest of the documents to get approvals. good luck

If you are married and living together you have nothing to worry about as the questions should be easy to answer. It's only difficult if you don't know small little details about day to day living which the average married couple learns over time.

she did not like the fact that hubby was staying with a friend during the week due to commuting issues while we looked for a new place to live (I saw her write that down in RED pen).

I would think that a newlywed couple not living together for whatever reason would raise questions.
