Based on 3 year marriage to American Citizen I need to send the Tax Rturns for 3 years, ok but tha question is certified copy or just copy. And also once they say tax Form , next time Tax Return. Are we talking about the Tax Forms I completed and mailed to IRS or what? I know it sounds funny asking that but it`s like game on words for me. It says:

Documents reffering to you and your spouse

1. Tax Returns, Bank Accounts, Leases, mortgages,or birth certificate of children or

2.Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both fiels for the past three years, or

3.An IRS Tax Return transcript for the last three years.

OK looks like I can chose one of the 3, if I chose te first one, TAX RETURNS is this the forms I sent to IRS and should I do certified copies for them

because please notice in 2. (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms

Ok FORMS???? RETURNS????

Please advice what they want

Thank you

I call this the I-751 phase of the N-400, proof since you are applying with the marriage eligibility option that you are still living together. Since we have filed both federal and state joint returns with that label they send to us that we are suppose to use, I sent just copies of that for the proof that we are living together along with other such proof, just like for the I-751. Worked for the I-751, should work for the N-400 and since I updated the I-751 with two additional returns due to their delays, sent in four years of copies.

The universal unofficial form of identification in the USA always has been the driver's license, they didn't ask for that, but copied both my wife's and my license on the same sheet so if nothing else, they can see we have identical addresses. You would think the personal check we sent them a joint bank account with both our names of it would be more proof, but copied that check as additional proof along with our savings account, joint medical insurance, quit claim deed, and was tempted to send a photo of us in bed making love. Still seems crazy to me with all the proof we already sent, had to do that the third time as well as getting up early tomorrow for our third biometric trip for her third set of finger prints, 420 miles for driving with four buck a gallon gas.

Oh well, whatever it takes to turn them on.

While that transcripts are free using Form 4506-T, if you want an exact copy of your return using Form Form 4506, there is a $39.00 fee for each year.

Have to send an exact copy of our 1040 Federal return for state taxes, our state accepts that, for a form to be legal, make all copies with the signature blank empty, and we sign each one. So if our state can accept that, would argue, so can the USCIS. I only print out one copy of each return, then paste on the Federal and State label that they request we do, then make multiple copies of that form. That was acceptable to the USCIS for both the initial green card and the I-751, again leaving the signature area blank and signing those forms.

Didn't see anything from the USCIS requesting certified copies of anything, the only place that I know that does that is our county register of deeds, tired to get certified copies of our birth certificates, and other key documents, was told they don't do that anymore, they are too busy. Ha, walk in their office with a half a dozen people sitting around with nothing to do, but don't comment on that. For certified copies have to contact the source that produced them and pay a nice fee.

We do bring in all the originals when called in, if they want to see them, so far, wasn't asked.

Just make copies of the returns you filed in the last 3 years. This is what I did and it wasn't a problem at all. I took my copies to the interview in case they wanted to see them but that didn't happen. They don't need to be notarized or certified.
