Hi guys.

My fiancee and I have been discussing getting a new apartment when I arrive, but to make things easier (as my baby's credit rating is not great) they have suggested I could get an Affidavit (or Affidativ) from the US Embassy to confirm I will be co-sponsor in payments. Has anyone heard of this and how I go about getting one (for example, can I get one at my K1 interview or would I have to apply separately?) Any information would be appreciated.

I have not heard of this. Sounds like maybe they just misunderstood your question. I can't imagine nor understand why the US Embassy would care anything about a new apartment, how you plan to pay for it, or anything of the sort. All that's important come time for your Interview is that the USC meets the poverty guidelines so that the beneficiary will be supported finacially. The only afadavit required in this process is the I-134.

Do you mean the embassy basically acting as a co-sponsor, or the embassy being like a notary, just making your promise to pay more"official" by stamping a letter saying you'd pay? In either case though, I have not heard of the embassy offering such a service.
