Goldman predicts $200/barrel gas

Oil futures blasted to a new record over $122 a barrel Tuesday, gaining momentum as investors bought on a forecast of much higher prices and on any news hinting at supply shortages. Retail gas prices edged lower, but appear poised to rise to new records of their own in coming weeks.

A new Goldman Sachs prediction that oil prices could rise to $150 to $200 within two years seemed to motivate much of Tuesday's buying.

Indianapolis.

Hmm. I remember hearing someone say that they were removing rail in favor for bike paths there. :bonk: If that is not the absolute dumbest thing I have ever heard of a city doing I don't know what is.

The suburban sprawl will never survive, with gas prices that high, without mass transit. The $1.19 per gallon days are over folks.

Investing in high speed rail and light rail is probably one of the best investments this country can make.

I noticed an idiot with 30 day tags on a new expedition yesterday.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Indianapolis is sprawl inhabited by people that think building a stadium is more important than how they can afford to get to work. I don't know how high gas will have to be before they really put significantly more money into public transport. No one loves their cars more than people do here, I think.

There was a guy obtaining signatures about installing high speed rail and light right throughout Virginia outside our local post office. I was like sign me up. Heck I will even smelt the steel and lay the tracks myself.

And you know it's not about getting rid of cars. It's about freeing up the roads. It's about saving money and time during the week by using mass transit to get to/from work. Therefore giving you the freedom to drive wherever one pleases during the weekend etc.

Trains are also much more relaxing than having to battle the interstates.

A good low cost option to rail is dedicated bus lanes. In a few highways in my area, they're tearing down the grassy medians and turning them into bus lanes... so busses can zip through while cars on both sides are stuck in traffic.

It doesn't even have to be seen as an alternative to rail... but rather as a complement.

so when are we going to get those hydrogen highways in NJ like they have in Cali?

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!
