hello..i've just paid the visa fee at bpi makati and it's 5,633 pesos (131 usd x 43)

Thanks, at least the visa fee is just within the buying rate of BPI.

as of 11am on 7 May 2008 United States East Coast time

Exchange rate per Yahoo finance <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?amt=1&from=USD&to=PHP&submit=Convert" target="_blank">

42.755 and going up. But have no doubt that when I go to pick up Leejoy it will be back down to 38 when I was there in January LOL.

I would ask at the medical and even at the bank if they can show you where they received their quote of exchange rates.

Thank you. I calculated based on the buying and selling rate of BPI (Bank of Philippine Islands)

Buying rate (the lower rate) is the rate they use when we exchange our dollar with them or when we withdraw in ATMs using our US card... Selling rate (the higher rate) is the rate they use when the amount we need to pay is quoted in dollars yet we would need to pay in peso.

Nevertheless, 45.5 is still so out of the current buying and exchange rate... there would be a -$17 difference with the money you will get from the bank and the money you would actually need to pay for medical... for every 100 medical exam applicant they have an extra profit of $1,700 already since they are using 45.5 exchange rate... and as always, we can't complain but just go through the process coz we need to. :( Philippines my Philippines.
