I try not to whine too much and I do know a lot of people have been waiting for way longer than we have. But I have to admit I'm getting a little bit tired of being in Limbo and if I can avoid paying for a new EAD that would be great.

We are not outside of the processing times yet. However my local office (Charlotte NC) had it's processing time go backward of 1 month (in March 08 they were processing the June 15th 2007 applications, in April 08 they went back to the May 16th 2007).

I've had people suggesting to get the Senators or Congressmen involved to see if they can speed up anything.

What I'm wondering is: can they really be of any help if you are not outside of the processing times?

Let me know what you think, or if anyone has experience about doing it.

If it's interesting to contact Senators or Congressman, how do you do it? (Phone, mail, etc).

Thank you for anyone with information.

A bit more information about our case:

  • I came here on a B2 visa in August 06. I renewed it in February 07.
  • In June 07 we decided that we didn't want to be apart again and went ahead and got married on July 6th.
  • July 13th 07 we sent out application.
  • Received on the 16th.
  • The NOA is dated of July 24th.
  • Biometrics: August 22nd.
  • EAD approved 09/26 and received 10/05.
  • Absolutely nothing since
  • I've called USCIS several times and I get to talk to an immigration officer each time since my I-485 has never been put online. In February they made an inquiry when i called, send me a letter that announced that my case was undergoing further review and that I shouldn't call them for 6 month (I didn't listen to that part and called again today).
  • We never received any RFE.
  • Sometimes in December one of the IO told me that I had not yet cleared the FBI name check, since then they refuse to tell me about it on the phone.

From what I have read on VJ, most elected rep's will not do anything until you are outside processing times. and even then sometimes they don't do much.- It depends on the folks you have to deal with and how involved they are with immigration issues I guess.

Good luck, L.

Len and Bren: That's what I was afraid of. Thank you though.

LaL: I have not done Infopass because I figured that they would tell me exactly the same thing as the IO on the USCIS phone line would tell me (I don't talk just to the guy in front of his screen who tells you the same as the online system). They after all have access to the same information, don't they?

I'm just wondering what the additional review is about in all honesty.
