Hi everyone! I just love visajourney as it makes my life easier by providing hindsight to my papers here in the USA.

I just wanted to gather feedback on the passport ammendment. The Philippine Embassy that caters of Filipinos in MA is in New York City. It would be a 6 hour drive from Boston and additional hotel accomodations if I should stay the night.

Is sending it through registered mail ok? It is the most logical thing to do if I dont have the luxury of time and funds to go to NYC. I am paranoid on letting go of my passport since it is the only legal document I have as of this time. I am currently on AOS and trying to get a driver's lisence as well. is this the best time to send it before travelling overseas? We might go to the Phils for the holidays.

I too was paranoid about sending very important original documents by mail so we drove to the Philippine embassy in Washington, DC (about 5hr drive). Since we were from out of town, they expedited our passports and we were able to get my son's passport the same day. I had problems with mine but that's a long story. In the end, I had to mail my passport and an original document that was missing. I included a stamped, self-addressed envelope and got my passport back without a problem.

Many countries (if you want to travel to them) require you to mail your passport with forms and fees, they then stamp the visa and mail it back to you. This is very routine - just use certified mail with acknowledgment or Fed ex etc. to assure delivery. Good Luck

Don't you need to do the report of marriage form too? Used our copy as part of the AOS packet.

My wife dropped off her passport along with the forms and photos with a Priority Mail envelope with postage already paid at the embassy in DC. She got a whole new passport, since the old one was close to expiring. They sent the old one back with a hole punched through it when they sent her the new passport.
