Hey guys,

Quick question. I called USCIS many times and of course, aside from being so rude, they don't even bother giving you any information.

I am thinking of making an infopass appointment but i was wondering if it's going to be the same "sorry you have to wait, there is nothing I can do" or you its actually where you can get some answers?

I applied for AOS (NBC center) in january and so far, did only the biometrics and no EAD, no AP, no nothing...

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

No, the best thing you can do to get correct and concise information is to schedule an infopass appointment. When you call the 1-800 number you reach a person who is not even an immigration officer but a person who is just reading what they see on the screen back @ you. When you go to the infopass, you can talk to an actual immigration officer.

Unless the info pass information is where your paperwork is they will just read the screen. I did the appointment thing. She just read the screen. Although she did print something and said" you live in Texas". I said "No". My lawyer gave us the wrong reciept number.

They only have access to what is on the screen.

Moka:

When my wife and I received a rejection notice on our AOS, EAD, AP we thought the Info Pass would help. In the end it was a complete waste of time, energy and money. You can try it, but do not get too frustrated if you get the "bum shuffle". The individuals we dealt with at the Info Pass were really, really bad and quite ignorant of our issue. In the end I was able to have a phone discussion with a very helpful officer from New York. She actually looked into our case and got the answer we needed to help put us back on track. You may be better off calling the 800 number using "the RFE trick" to get a live officer (if the customer service will not transfer you).

I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you very much for the info and suggestions. Unfortunately, USCIS has this gift of making you feel like you are disturbing them when you call. The lack of info while waiting for months can make you soooo frustrated!

I think i'll make an infopass appointment anyway. I think that 4 months for the AP and EAD is way too long especially after i have read that some got it within 3 months. I guess i have nothing to loose.

Thanks again

If you filed a Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, and it has been longer than 90 days since you filed and you haven't gotten an update from us within the last 60 days, and have not seen any public notice that addresses your case type, please don't wait the extra 30 days. Call customer service immediately.
Taken from here http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0000ecd190aRCRD

Call and ask to speak to an immigration officer.

I get to talk to them because my I-485 does not appear on their screen (who knew it would be helpful). Insist, tell them that you want to speak to an IO in person, etc.

The Infopass appointment is always the best thing to do. My wife and I had some questions on our I-130 approval notice and got a different answer every time we called the customer service number. We finally made an Infopass appointment and got all the answers we needed - which was very different than any of the answers we received over the phone.

I strongly recommend an Infopass appointment.

Our Journey...

  • Married Dec 2006
  • I-130 filed in Jan 2007
  • I-130 approved April 2007
  • AOS, EAD, AP Filed on 02/19/2008 (Chicago) - Application transferred to National Benefits Center
  • Biometrics completed on 03/11/2008, all applications touched on the same day
  • I-765 touched and EAD card production ordered April 14, 2008
  • AP touched and approved April 14, 2008
  • AP touched April 15, 2008
  • I-765 touched and EAD card production ordered (why again????)April 16, 2008
  • I-765 touched April 17, 2008
  • AP received April 19, 2008
  • EAD received April 21, 2008
  • I-765 touched and received approval email April, 21 2008.
  • I-765 touched April 22, 2008
  • Interview notice received November 20, 2008. Interview date January 6, 2009
  • I-485 touched Dec 24, 2008
  • I-485 touched Dec 29 2008
  • AOS interview completed. Verbal approval obtained from interviewing officer on Jan 06 2009
  • I-485 touched and card production ordered Jan 07, 2009

I think Infopass is the best ! my wify n I drove 1:30 hours to Detroit for the info pass appointment and it went really great ! the lady thought that I looked like her grandson and she did everything for me, she gave me the forms, she gave tips... we were there for like an hour talking to her even-though our appointment was for 30 minutes, so I suggest you to make an infopass appointment and be patient there tell the person that you are totally lost and that you need help.

GOOD LUCK !!!

My husband and I are thinking of getting an INFOPASS appointment as adviced . Now, how do we go about this? Who should we call to schedule infopass appointment and which office would that appointment be scheduled?

My service center is Missouri but I had my biometrics in Tampa USCIS.

Thank you
