Not really (by NYC standards), but whenever I mention the high cost of living in NYC

or spending thousands of dollars on groceries or restaurants, I get treated like some kind

of a freak or alien from another planet.

Yes, but often by people who've lived in those cities. No one actually believes you either need or actually do spend that much.

Although, yes, if you do live in NYC, LA or maybe Boston or Miami or places like that a six figure salary isn't going to stretch as far as the boondocks. It's not like your not going to have a nice life, however.
