Wallet - $3(in KTM)

Purse - $5(ditto)

Shoes - $45(summer) - $85(winter)

Hair color - $3 bag of henna, do it at home. Don't really cut my hair but a trim, SIL does it for free

Pedicure - $0 - do it at home

Computer & monitor - $1200

Eyelash tint - never had it done

Eyebrow shaping - $15 in Jackson Heights but my SIL does it for free

Groceries per week - $50-75 including household stuff and that's stretching it, probably it's less than that. Being veg and cooking at home helps.

Jeans - up to $75

Casual tops - $10(KTM)

A night out - $8-10 ($5 masala dosa, mango lassi, soda and a few bucks for donation at the Ganesh Temple)

Rent - currently paying $400 but could go up to $800(comfy-$1000(hurting))

Vacation - $3,000 ($1600 r/t ticket KTM-JFK plus $1400 spending money)

Very modest.

I'm not posting my numbers here, 'cause y'all gonna kill me.

I wouldn't. At least not for that, anyway. I may be a demented psychopath, but I sure don't get jealous easily. :P

Wallet - $20 - about right; I paid £10 for mine and it's super lovely leather that is wearing very well (currently 5 years old).

Purse - $80 - I prefer leather as it wears well. However my current one, that I've used every day for the past two years, cost me $20.

Shoes - $50 - $100 - sounds about right; can't skimp on shoes.

Hair color with highlights and cut - $0; I cut my own. :P

Pedicure - $0 - I do my own!

Computer & monitor - Paid $1800 for one 6 years ago. Upgraded it once since.

Eyelash tint - $0 - no need to tint.

Eyebrow shaping - $0 - I can do this myself.

Groceries per week - $60 - although if I'm entertaining this can be more. $20 for breakfast and lunches; I like to splurge more on good quality cuts of meat/fish and organic veg for evening dinners.

Jeans - $40

Casual tops - $20 (although I'd love to be able to afford better quality clothes at higher prices...)

Rent - less than $600

Mm, and now I'm thinking fondly of mango lassis...

It's really not! I have a friend who bought her own place and she splits the mortgage evenly with me; doesn't make a profit off me. :)

Wallet - haven't bought one in a while but i'm eyeing this one that is $200. I would keep it for a long time if I buy it.

Purse - usually gifts. i wouldn't buy a fancy purse. don't know why i want a $200 wallet. lol

Shoes - depending on what style. anywhere from $10-150. Wouldn't go much higher than that. Usually don't buy them very often anyway. I'm not a shoe #######.

Hair highlights and cut - usually I spend about $300. I definitely splurge on my hair.

Pedicure - don't do these regularly. $40 if/when I go. Maybe 4x a year.

Computer & monitor - I bought mine for $2000 about two years ago.

Eyelash tint - never done it, don't need it.

Eyebrow shaping - I pluck mine for free.

Groceries per week - about $100. sometimes less.

Jeans - $125-150

Casual tops - up to $75

Rent - I don't pay any currently. But when I was in NYC I paid $1300 for my one bedroom in Astoria. and previously $1300 for my tiny room in someone else's loft in the LES.

Basically I'd rather save money for VACATIONS rather than spend it on clothes and things. I like to look put together, but I don't care about fancy brands just for the sake of it. I'd rather see the world! :)

Also, how often do you buy those items? That matters too. In the end, just how much you spend for an item isn't the only thing that matters, how long you can make the money spent actually last matters just as much.

Indeed....some of those things I just put because it's what I've spent in the past or would spend....like for the eyelash tint. I've only had it done once, but will do it again this summer so I don't have to wear mascara all summer. Eyebrow shaping I think I've only had done twice, once before wedding and well, maybe that's it...once...LOL. Purses I buy cheap because I like to have a variety of them. I'll spend as little as a buck if it's a cute little thing at a garage sale, not meant for everyday wear and tear.

Wallet - $25 tops and then only if it's Vera Bradley.

Purse - $75 tops and then only if it's Vera. Most of my other bags are less than $20.

Shoes - $5 to $20. I have loads.

Hair highlights and cut - $40 (sister is a hairdresser).

Pedicure - Can't be bothered.

Computer & monitor - less than $500.

Eyelash tint - huh?

Eyebrow shaping - Do it myself.

Groceries per week - about $75. sometimes less.

Jeans - $30 and then I moan about it.

Casual tops - $5 to $10 absolute max.

Mortgage - $361 - makes me smile just to write the check.

I never ever ever pay retail for ANYTHING. I shop discount stores for all our clothes, shoes and household goods. Most of my clothes are designer label from a closeout retailer we have in town.

Our mortgage? The result of downsizing to a smaller house and using the equity from the bigger house on this one.

And I honestly can't say I'm suffering, though I do wish I could move into my own place. As far as 'stuff' is concerned, I have everything I need and want(except for Govi of course, but then he's not 'stuff') .

Oh FFS. it's not like eyelash tint is so weird... it's just dye on your lashes so you don't have to wear mascara. It's nice in the summer when it's all hot and sticky and you don't want to have dotty mascara. It takes about 10 minutes to get done and for me it lasted all summer.

I have a friend from Iceland who is very pale and very blind, borderline albino. She gets her lashes tinted as well as her eyebrows, otherwise she'd look like a ghost.
