As you may be aware Filipino is rich also in history and cultures.. We do still have our values and beliefs even now in the modern days....

This is just a continuation on my recent post regarding Language Barrier.... I am moving now in the second part on my experience in my first year of marriage.

I've got pregnant after 1 month of marriage.. I guess it is a honeymoon baby... And because I grew up in a small town (small barrio) where the superstitious belief exist all the time. There is a lot of older people who used to gather in a small store and talk about short stories "kwentong barbero" I am not saying I did believe on all those but when you grew up with those people like that, you still carry that belief even when you get older... Even when I went to Manila it did not change the way I am as country girl.. or in tagalog you call it (probinsyana)

When I gave birth to my son, I remember what my mom told me about do's and dont's in taking care of the baby, which contradict on my husband beliefs on how they were raised. Putting oil On the baby stomach to massage it for flatulence (Called Manzanilla), instead of giving him Little Tummy (US brand) he admitted that this is really working to my son.. I believe in medicine, but somehow we do know some alternative medicine that we can used without taking a medicine... Like the old people used to do back in the old days... We had a little argument in some of this, . He has his own way also on how to take care babies, but you know I am the mother..

But you know it takes time to understand one another.. i think that is just part of marriage life.. But now we understand what we need to do if the second baby come up.

Day by day of knowing each other is really a challenging for both of us, but we did have a good laugh after we argued on something nonsense. No matter what we argues mixed it with some sense of humor and everything wll be alright..

:P Just learn to live both ways to have a harmonious family set up. Give and Take may apply on this. I realized one thing since I got here in the USA though.... that.... I am not the BOSS anymore. I learned to be submissive :( (I find it difficult 100%).... Way back home, I have my own house and lot in a good village, have a stable (professional) job, a good provider for my family. I am the seniorita and what i say they listen. Now? :o Hehehe, I have to listen sometimes. Well, marriage is 50/50 decision between hubby and wife. Halfway of my decision now....but, its cool... B) at least someone is taking care of my worries. Goodluck to you. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.

 I can totally relate to that! We found a local Filipino market that sells the Manzanilla and I believe it works!

When it gets ridiculous is when my wife takes a single thread, dabs it on her tongue and sticks it to our baby's forehead when has the hiccups. Especially coming from a woman who has her doctorate in dentistry. At least I can get her to laugh along with me.

I'm all for trying alternate methods or herbal remedies if they've been long used and have showed to be both safe and effective...Manzanilla is great in that way.
