VFS fee for visa delivery

My husband is in Hyderabad and his interview is in Chennai, he will stay in Chennai to pick up the visa at the VFS office. He is concerned about paying the fee in Hyderabad and having them deliver the passport to the same office and take a week to get to him. Does anyone know if the fee can be paid at the Hyderabad office with instructions to deliver at the counter in Chennai?

The interview is coming up soon (June 6th) and we need to know how to plan for all this with the payment needing to be made 10-15 days prior to interview.

Payment of the fee at the VFS office (10-15 days before the interview) is required. However, the next day after the interview you can go to the Chennai VFS office and just pick it up by hand. You just have to tell the Consular Officer at the Chennai visa interview that you want to pick it up at the VFS office by hand. You don't give any special instructions at the Hyd office when you pay the fees.

thanks again. the interview is on friday so that means staying in chennai a couple extra days. is there no way to pick it up at the embassy?

Sorry no they don't give it at the Consulate. My hubby came from Hyderabad for the interview in Chennai on Friday. At the Consulate they told him he could pick up the visa at the VFS office on Monday but he had to catch a train Saturday night. The visa arrived via courier in Hyderabad on Tuesday so the wait wasn't so bad.

one more question if you dont mind...what immunizations are required at the medical exam and for the additional lab test and fees, are they something a healthy man wouldnt likely have to have?

Tetanus, MMR, Varicella are required. TB skin test is optional and not really required. Both MMR and Varicella require two doses each, the second dose being several weeks after the first. The vaccinations can be done anywhere and the proof shown to the Consulate doc to fill in the paperwork. The rest of the lab tests are done in Chennai: blood tests, X-Ray etc.

Thank you again. we tried to be ready for all this but there is nothing listed as to what embassy would require for immunizations so i went from cdc. family doctor will give statement for my husband having had the chicken pox as a child so varicella isnt a problem, he did get one dose of MMR so i guess he will be needing one more of those, and he did get the PPD (TB). I guess we are ready, I know I am ready to have him here with me, August '07' was a long time ago.
