Maureen flinched intuitively as anger recomposed Pree’s handsome features. Pree kiss his teeth, and moved around to the driver’s side of the car. He gunned the engine, suddenly impatient and unwilling to wait for Maureen to enter the car. The couple rode in silence, one silenced by fear, the other by indignation.

Blood pooled around Maureen’s butt and legs, as she cried in agony. Her pain was so deep that her gut-wrenching cries were harsh and silent. Maureen’s dislocated jaw popped in rigid protest to her continuous open-mouth sob.

“Bumboclat! Yuh let mi give yuh de wuk and yuh nuh clean? CHA! Clean hup mi hood, mi bed and find yuh way home. Betta yet nuh touch mi cocky wid yuh filth and defilement skettel! Move an come hout!” Pree screamed.

With those words, Pree went to opposite end of the bed, picked up the mattress and flipped Maureen to the floor. He pulled the mattress outside to scrub it down. Just as quickly, he re-entered the house, and grabbed her purse. Pree took all of her money, and jammed it into his pocket.

“Yuh howe mi $2200 mi yout!”, Pree yelled at Maureen’s limb body.

Pree parked the car in his carport, and exited the car abruptly. Maureen sat stunned and hurt by his sudden mood swing. She slowly got out the car and walked to his front door, which to her surprise was locked. Maureen knocked apprehensively.

Pree snatched the door open. “Whaa mek?”

“Eh? Yuh nuh heasy ennoh! Yuh gwaan like yuh mad tuh rass! Mi money ah fe mi frum mi bawn. Yuh neva dere yere. Why yuh lack de bumboclat door star?” Maureen shrieked.

Maureen never saw it coming as it was the first time a man had ever struck her. Pree put all his weight and brute force behind the backhanded slap across her cheek. Immediately, Maureen’s right eye began swelling shut. Tears leapt to her eyes, and cascaded over her eyelids and down her face. Maureen’s jaw wouldn’t move. Pree grabbed her by her hair, and dragged her into his home. He smacked her again in her mouth.
