Passport-style Photos and fees?

Hello everybody!

I'm going to mail the I-751 package to The Texas Service Center next week and I have few questions.

1. Do I need two passport style photos for I-751 package?

2. What kind of payment is accepted by Texas Center?

3. Should I have just one payment (whatever payment is accepted) for I-751 petition and biometric together or I need 2 payments for each of them?

Thank you very much,

Camelia

Hi Camelia - welcome to the TSC family!

No, you don't need to send photographs unless you are stationed with the military outside of the US. If you are living in the US then they will send you an appointment to go and have your fingerprints and a photograph taken. It is refereed to as the "Biometrics" appointment on these lists. You can send a personal cheque or a money order for the fee. You can write either one cheque for the whole amount (that is what we did) or you could write two cheques for the application fee and the biometrics fee. A cheque is a good idea as you can then know when the cheque has been cashed and USCIS writes the main file number on the back of your cheque. Unfortunately, you can't use that number to check your status on line - only the biometrics file number does that - but you will know when it was cashed:-).

Oh - another thing - the Service Centers are supposed to send out a receipt - the NOA1 - to you that will extend your green card for a year. TSC is not doing that for whatever reason. You will eventually need to make an InfoPass appointment with your local immigration office to have them put an I-551 stamp in your passport. It will be good for one year and you can use to for work, to travel and to renew your Driver's License. You may even be able to get it when you go to have your biometrics appointment - I don't know for sure, but you could ask.

Good luck.

You should be fine if your passport expires next February. Hopefully, you will even have your 10 year card by then.

One more...stupid question...please!

The Instructions for I-751 says I must make the check payable to US Departament of Homeland Security. Is this correct or I should make payable to USCIS Texas Service Center?

Thank you again,

Camelia

As Cassie said, do what the instructions tell you. Cheques are made out to the US Department of Homeland Security - the 'parent' organization for USCIS. TSC is just a "Department' within USCIS.

1. No photos are needed

2. Personal check or money order is fine. Make it payable to US Department of Homeland Security

3. One payment is fine
