My fiance and I are compiling our documents so that we can file the I-129F. I know I can provide a copy of my birth certificate to include in the filing. Does my fiance have to provide originals to be filed in this packet of birth certificate, marriage/divorce certificates etc? Or are copies of each acceptable. I couldn't find this on the guides.

You send the photocopies of everything. There is a letter to attach stating that you will have the originals if needed. Somewhere there is a copy of the letter to enclose with your package that explains this. I am at work right now, but will see if I can find it.

Good clear copie are good for the petition. You only need the originals for the interview at the Embassy.

thank you everyone! Now next question, the guide says "Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file."

My question is, are copies of copies of this acceptable or do we need the originals to include for proof of relationship? I am thinking of having my fiance scan these items and then I print them out on my printer since his printer is broken.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.
