How long are police records good for after you receive the I thought i read six months somewhere , now i cant find the information> Thanks

You need to ask YOUR consulate or at least tell us what consulate you will be using, so someone else who has used the consulate in your country can help you.

YMMV

I know that by the time I got my police certificate and sent it in, NVC took at least 8 to 9 months for me to get an interview at the consulate. Then I had to wait another 2 1/2 months for the interview. Since I had moved and my certificate was already a few months old....I was told to get a new one done and had to resend. That was at the Montreal consulate.

From the London Embassy website:

How long is a police certificate valid for?

With the exception of the U.K. police certificate which is considered valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, a police certificate is valid indefinitely, provided you do not return to the country and reside for six months or more, if it's your country of birth or current residence. The period is twelve months for any other country.

Although we all love VJ, sometimes it's best to go to the horse's mouth. ;)
