Odd Schedule for Family Biometrics - Can anyone enlighten us?

Hi,

Well, now that we've gotten the NOA1s out of the way (see sig) things seem to be moving along. Yesterday, we received 4 ASC Appointment Notices for everyone (Mahal ko & 3 kids) to come visit the local USCIS office to "capture your biometrics". We're all very excited about the prospect of going to see our USCIS friends, tell them how much we missed them, and renew old friendships now that they have started communicating with us again. But there were a couple of odd things (I think) that we were curious about:

1) The three children have appointments on 5/14 at 3:00pm. Mahal ko has an appointment on 5/15 at 8:00am. Does anyone have a clue why her appointment might be different? We aren't considering raising an issue or rescheduling. We're planning for her to bring her documents, on the hope that they process her during the children's appointment time. But if she has to come back the next day, so be it.

2) As stated on other threads, we're dealing with children 14, 7, and 4 years old. Will they actually try to do biometrics (fingerprints) on the 7 & 4 year olds? Somehow, I had figured (or thought I read) that this wasn't happening. Again, we're not going to argue and all will show up ready and able to expose fingers and faces (for pictures).

Any insight that the forum experts, or those with similar experiences could share would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure why they would schedule the appointments on different days. I had mine and my 4 year old son's biometrics on the same day. They did take 1 fingerprint of him along with his picture. He even had to sign his name. I have both our EAD cards and on his it shows his signature, fingerprint and picture. Its effortless and painless for kids. Only takes a few minutes.

Do you really mean EAD cards? Why does a 4 year old need Employment Authorization? :o

The fingerprint, signature and picture will all go on the EAD (if filed for) and the GC.

And yes, your wife should bring her biometrics appointment letter too. They will probably let her do her biometrics at the same time. When we had ours, my son's appointment was the day after mine. I didn't want to risk my son missing two days of school in case they won't take him during my appointment so I went alone. However, when I got there, the ASC folks told me that it would have been okay as they allow families to come on the same appointment especially if you have to drive a long way.

In your case, since the kids' appointment comes first and your wife will already be there, might as well bring in the appointment letter and request hers to be done at the same time.
