I also agree. People should not be forced via taxes into anything we wouldn't draw benefit from as a species.

This should be expanded to supporting politics via proxies.

Unfortunately, the buck has to start somewhere if we want to INVEST in our region's well-being. If that means having politicians educating the population as to why its smart money to invest much less than what we are taxed in maintaining the status quo in policies that will yield potential profits for the nation as a whole (and progressive dividends), then so be it.

Spending an order of magnitude more on doing things the way they've been done, punitively, is not progressive and will not signify that the problem will be solved.

Tax dollars are spent according to the will of the people damnit. The people elect the goverment, the gorvnment spend the dollars. Each individual is not goint to 'like' every govermental decision, but collectively, it is the will of the people. Suck it up.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Lets add that some economic conservatives also live up to their title in maintaining the status quo without realizing that they are in effect, preaching a system of economic values that limits any potential increases in they themselves receiving a new source of dividends in the future. Astonishing, yes. Which is why this issue needs to be presented as one that goes well beyond economic point of view.

Tell me folks, why in the world at these illegal immigrant protests, immigration officers are not standing at the end of the protest with wagons to haul them away & deport? Why I ask, why?

If you have the ambition to get out there, wave your flag, say your here, your illegal, and *think* you have rights... then they should see their list of rights... in immigration jail awaiting deportation.

It still amazes me that people in Chicago get deported at the airport (while waiting for a family member to arrive at gate) while others go protest flat out in public, and nothing happens. Am I missing something here?

I think they are lobbying for legal changes that go more along the lines of human aspects of the law, not flatulently flaunting themselves out of ignorance.

I think the "goal" is to get legal changes. But if you'd see the way they marched... certainly seemed like flaunting themselves. And they didnt do so ignorantly, they did it demandingly.

I saw. I also live in Chi-town.

Of course, they were not ignorants... otherwise they wouldn't be out on the streets campaigning for what they were campaigning. Sure... the day was gorgeous... and I worked (and spent time here on VJ, doh!)... As for the flaunting... that is a matter of personal interpretation and taste, no? Can't expect people to not be colorful on a colorful topic that they are invested in personally.

Could've gone too... that Helix Camera shop I told you about on the other thread is coincidentally not far off the march route... but hey! Work...
