From what I was told, they only give you the epidural so you don't feel contractions. Once you get ready to push, they want to make sure you can feel that. Is that true?

They should let you retain a certain ammount of feeling because if you cannot feel a contraction and when to push, then you don't know what do do... and if you cannot feel anything at all you may be unable to actually figure out how to push. This leads to C-sections if you cannot figure out what muscles to isolate... they'll up pictocin sometimes to try to counter the epidural if it's too strong.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I wonder how much personal stuff I could fit onto a greyhound bus and how much it would cost me to have my car towed to missouri... It would have to be towed since I don't know how to drive there alone....

Happy friggin Thursday everyone.

Happy Thursday all! Today is my first day of bein unemployed and already the boss is calling for help. My car is in the shop getting the brakes done. I have put over 60k miles on my car and it is 3 yrs old. I think I am due for a new one if I could only work it out so that I wouldn't be upside down in value. It is ok cos I do really like my car.

As for husband being spoken to in Spanish it hapens more and more everyday. The one good thing about it is that he is going to learn spanish as well as english. I wish I was able to learn it as fast as he picks it up.

Kelly, The epidural just seemed to keep me from dilating and made me not feel my legs, but since the contractions started in the upper half of my abdominal area and that wasn't numbed, it was pretty useless. When I had my second natural I was a lot more comfortable without the cold tube from the epidural running down my back and no needle to lay on. I'm glad you made it through anyway and got that beautiful little boy our here where he can see his mommy and daddy.

Bridget, my husband had a lead man for a while at his last job that was from Honduras. Their boss used to talk to the guy from Honduras and tell him to translate to my husband. Abdel finally looked at him and asked him why. The guy said "because you speak the same language!" Abdel told him no they didn't and besides, he had no problem understanding the guy, even if the guy couldn't understand him very well. At least that was better than being called a terrorist or Bin Laden.

Amal, why are you wanting to go to Missouri? You can go to Mapquest and put in your address where you are now and where you want to go and it will give you directions how to get there. It even tells how many miles between each turn so you can anticipate your next move.

Today has been a day from heck. I just spent over an hour on the phone with DFAS (the office that pays the governments bills) and their computer help desk trying to figure out how to get an invoice fixed in their system. This was the second conference call this week and this time the help desk person told us that what the help desk person we talked to the last time told us to do was wrong so the guy at DFAS was right that he can't help fix anything. I guess my job has really prepared me for dealing with immigration. That isn't actually my job any more but the guy I'm training has to learn all of this "how to deal with the government" stuff and I'm the one who did it for 8 years so I have to teach him.

Ok, thanks for listening to me vent. Now I have to get back to what I was supposed to be doing before that wonderful phone call. I'd rather be cutting out and going home to mix up a fresh pina colada in the blender and relax with hubby.

Driving is not as hard as it looks even when you don't know the way. You just type the addy into mapquest, print out every flippin' turn and map out when and where you want your pitstops, pile as much as you can and GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask Jackie, the queen of roadtrips!!! :P

Ever been so hormonal that you burst into tears for no apparent reason?
