My fiance's K1 visa has expired last week and was never used. According to the website of US Embassy in the Philippines, "the K-1 visa is valid for a maximum of six months. If the visa bearer is unable to leave for the United States immediately and the visa expires, a new one may be issued upon written request to the Embassy and the payment of another application and processing fee of U.S. $500." It does not state how late could my fiance process the reissuance of the K1 visa. The reason why we do not want to start the process now is that he has still some responsibilities in the Philippines and not sure of when it is going to be over. He might be short of time again once his visa is reissued. Hopefully, it will be reissued (cross-fingers)....

Any advice will be appreciated.

Email the Consulate directly on this. Such things are actually at the discretion of the Consulate's Immigrant Visa unit, and evaluated based on the totality of circumstances.
