Hi every one. I'm new to this site so hope someone can provide some info. I have read some horror stories about the interviews at Guangzhou, and the long waits to get the #3 packet from them. Well I sent our I 129 to the Vermont Service Center in December 2007. We got the approval notice back in early Feburary 2008 and then the notice from the Department of State on Feburary 26 2008 saying they had forwarded our case to Guangzhou. From that point it was impossible to get any answers from USCIS or Department of State as to where our case was. We kept getting the automated answer your case can not be found or has not reached our office yet. Well on April 23rd my Fiancee got the #3 packet from Guangzhou. We were both very surprised at the very short length of time it took to get us to this point. We have completed the packet and sent it back to Guangzhou. Now the letter Guangzhou send with the packet states the interview will be scheduled within 2 to 4 months from the time they receive the #3 packet. Our question is based upon the speed of our paperwork being processed, how much time does Guangzhou give you to get to Guangzhou from the day you receive the #4 packet? We want to be sure we have all the paper work together for my finacee to bring to Guangzhou. So do they give you a week, a month to report for the interview once you get the #4 packet? We still must make arrangements for her to travel Chongqing to Guangzhou, get a hotel to stay for the week or so, so she can get her physical before the interview.

We just want to make sure we have sufficient time to take care of all the things necessary to be ready for the day of the interview.

Thanks for any help on this.

The answer cannot be given in days because the Consulate doesn't work that way. A P4 any day in June is as likely to get an interview any day in August as another. A June 4, P4 could have an August 30 interview while a June 28 P4 has an August 2 interview. On any given June P4 date, all August interview dates are in play randomly. Apply the same logic to any month for Guangzhou.

So, my timeline has the most current GZ scheduling.

This tracks the same as things have been for K visas P3 to P4 to interview for at least the last three years. P3 return to P4 is two or three weeks. P4 (out) in any month will get an interview any random day in the second month following.

I know you say you received the P4 in May and your interview is in June but I'm referrering to the Consulate's P4 out date, which would have been in April, not May.

For CR1, interviews are the third month following P4 out, again any random day.

I don't disagree. You are 'Da Man' when it comes to correct, spot on, info.

I don't have the information about the Consulate's P4 out date. Given the mail in China, its probably safe to assume that it was the last week of April.

As I acquire more accurate info, I'll update my timeline and signature.
