I watch it 3~4 times a day lately, sigh......Yep, I heard a couple of days ago that the consensus amongst some economist believe that this recession will be "shallow" and short lived.....

Well it was over 14,000 in October 2007, so our 401(k)s are still not where they are supposed to be.

I converted about 50% of my equity funds to safe money market funds (and some

gold and energy funds) in August last year when the markets started going haywire,

but I still took a loss on the other 50%.

Well it was over 14,000 in October 2007, so our 401(k)s are still not where they are supposed to be.

I'm not as bad off as I was back in jan @-8.5%.....I'm in the hole about now about -1.5%.....I'm mostly still in asian stocks, but have about 1/3 here in stocks here.

Overall though I can't complain as I'm up nearly 35% in the past three years....can't complain about that!

A lot of folks at my job are down around 10% this quarter (except for me... YEAH). I've have also just converted most of my 401K into more stable areas until the market proves itself to be more reliable/profitable.

Since I am still adding 17% of my gross every payday I have been buying bargains over the last year. When the market gets back to 14000 not only will the stocks I owned before will be back but I will own a larger number of stock bought at the lower price. As with anything else a downturn is a buying opportunity and not a disaster.

The "rally" started about a month ago.

Yeah, just because the market went back down today it's still only an 11 point loss. Not like it crashed or something. Two months ago the market was below 12000 wasn't it? I would rather have a nice steady rise over many months than a massive move in one day anyway. It gives me more time to buy stocks each payday.
