Jihed is so convinced that he's going to have to pay money at the Embassy when he goes for his interview. I am sure he does not - but because he keeps pushing it, I just wanted to get clarification from you guys.

We are married. CR 1. No other petitions were filed - just CR 1 / I 130

We paid the original fee to file that $190.

We paid the affidavit of support fee bill $70

We paid the $400 IV fee bill

He had his medical exam and paid for that - $110 USD

Everything was paid directly to USCIS or NVC in the states, except his medical bill that he paid to the doctor there.

Does he really need to take any money with him to the interview on Monday? Can you think of anything that we've missed?

Thanks guys!! He just making me nutty this morning! lol :bonk:

You already paid for the visa, so unless he needs to pay for a courier fee for the visa/passport, then no, he does not need any money.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Thank you Julianna

That's what I told him! hehe

And the typical way of operating in Tunis is that they will ask him to come back the next to get his passport/visa ( I really hope that they don't find a reason to do it some other way with him, AP or something that delays it for days, weeks, etc) So I don't even think he'll have to pay for that. I just told him take 100 Tunisian dinar with you ( about 92 USD ) and you should be fine - all you will have to pay for is the train ride to Tunis and the taxi rides to the embassy, etc.

It's just this boy has a head like a ROCK sometimes. I think one of his friends like 2 years ago came to the states and he has been talking to him and that friend told him that he had to pay at the Embassy - but I'm just trying to get it through Jihed's thick skull that all the cases are different, that much has changed in 2 years and he can't believe everything his friend tells him!

We went through a different consulate and we were going for the K-1 - so our situation is different. BUT when his name got a "hit", they requested $85 to pay for the full set of fingerprints they took. We were at the consulate/interview together and I had the $$.

Has he already provided fingerprints along the way?

Good Luck with the interview!

No, he does not need to pay anything. You have already paid everything.

Did you watch Manchester United vs Barcelona game yesterday? I was supporting Barcelona, but they lost. Even though, Messi was outstanding.

OMG you're going to get so many different answers I think because it depends on the consulate. In Egypt I know he had to pay a DHL fee and he had to pay money for the visa on top of what we had paid for the application for the I130 and I129. I can't remember if it was $100 or $200 but he had to pay it to CIB and show the receipt at the interview.

You need to find someone who's gone through Tunis to get the real scoop. Good luck!

Yes, I agree. You just need to find out the fee to mail out the passport. Otherwise, you have paid all fees related to the process. Why don't you email and call the embassy/consulate?

Thank you!! That's exactly what I just did. I just sent an email to the embassy. I will wait until Friday and if I do not get a response back from them via email, I will just call and ask them directly, since his interview is going to be on Monday. It's already 7pm in Tunis now and tomorrow, Thursday 1 May is some kind of holiday there and I'm sure that the embassy is going to be closed. Will call Friday if I don't hear back and I will let everyone know what they said, so others processing through Tunis will be aware!

Good. I am sure, the Embassy will email you back. Different embassies/consulates have different rules about passport. For our case, Embassy asked my wife to come back next day to pick her passport with visa. So she did not need to take any money for that. She did not pay anything during her interview, since I paid everything here in USA (I-130 fee, AOS fee, IV Fee).

Not sure about your question, but just have your husband have some money on him. When we were in Egypt, neither of live there, just his sisters and father, my husband has I think it is Bank of Arbia, and he just went to the ATM, just like we do here. Good too, cause we always needed money, so my husband goes to the ATM. I can also use the ATM, had too, and really it is very easy, and I think there was one close to the American embassy. Not sure about Turkey but I would think there should be an ATM somewhere close. Good luck on the interview

I don't know about Turkey either, I've never been there  Just kidding.

Tunisia definitely has ATMS, but the bad thing about the Tunisian Embassy is that it really sits in the middle of NO WHERE's ville. Hehe There is a town, La Marsa around it, but everything is a real long walk and I don't even see a lot of taxis running around there - Getting one to go back into Tunis was something we were nervous about, but we got lucky and found one as we left the Embassy. They have isolated themselves away from every place else- the main street in Tunis with all the beautiful Embassies on it (especially the French Embassy ) - Now the American Embassy looks more like a compound to me more than anything else. Ah, oh well, it still works well and efficiently for the time being.

I'm just going to have him take $100 USD with him. This should cover anything random they ask for - whether it is a courier fee (even though that's not a standard method of operation for Tunis per what I've been reading they say to pick up passport in person if they grant the visa) or fee for finger printing ( that I believe was included in the $400 IV fee bill that I paid here)

I never did get a message back from the Embassy - I sent it out early yesterday but I think that they were already closing for the day (Wednesday) and today is the May Day holiday so I'm sure they are closed. So I'll just tell him to take 100 and hope it's true he has nothing to pay there.

Thanks again!!!

What is the deal with these American embassies, do the Americans really work? I think the consult was in from 9:30am to around maybe 10:30am. Hesham's daughter is an American citizen so we deal with Kuwait, and Egypt, but Egypt, wow, I need to get that job. How does one become the consult, I love the hours, especially the Egyptian embassy. I bet it pays nicely also. Work a few hours, and the rest down time, maybe some paper work on the computer. Yea, I am going to nail me a job there. lol

I know one of the security guards there "Lazri". He was super cool. I have been to the embassy 2 times and the last time I was there I met with the female consul. Shes real young looking. I think you will be fine but there have been denials at the Tunisian embassy ( I personally know one...) She was able to eventually get it overturned but the translator I used told me about several, usually involving people who married on the first visit. my thoughts to you is to have as many pictures as possible and have your ducks in a row, no matter how confidant you feel. He needs to be able to rattle off where you work, for how long, your ex husbands name, what city you were born in. A really good piece of advice is for him to have a copy of your I130 so he knows ALL YOUR BIOGRAPHIC DATA. Have tons and tons of paper to hand them. They DO LOOK AT PICTURES. I went through the Algiers consulate but was married in Tunisia and I have been to the embassy several times and trust me, be over prepared. They also sometimes will say kind of sarcastic cutting things to get your spouses reaction to it. Sometimes they will do home visits in Tunis ( one denied on here on a k3 got a home visit) They seem to pay extremely careful attention to how many times you went there... what you did...the length of how long you have known each other, etc. Looking at your case, you are very ok ( number of visits, etc) Just tell your very laid back Tunisian that he needs to know lots of information about you and not to blow your nagging off. He needs to know alot and have alot of things with him. Sometimes these north africans just tune us out... only to find out later we were right

I am sure you will be fine.. just make sure he is OVER PREPARED.
