Hi, all:

I'm one of those who petitioned for lifting the conditions this year and whose cases were transferred from TSC to VSC and did not receive NOA1 (but received a biometrics appointment). I called the USCIS customer service number, was connected to VSC (according to my case number), and talked to an officer there. As I told him that I did not receive the notice and that my card would expire in 12 days, he checked my status on his computer and told me, "Don't worry. I'll make the notice for you and mail it out myself today" and that I should receive it within 1-2 weeks at latest. He also said that another option (alternative to the notice) would be for me to go to the local office to receive the stamp on my passport (as some of you have done), but it should not be necessary.

Hope this information helps any of you in the same situation.

I'll see if I receive the notice this time. Good luck to us all!

Hmm, thanks for the information. How are you sure you talked to someone in VSC? I know that I was transferred to an immigration officer when I called about not getting an NOA but they didn't say anything about sending one out - just gave me the biometrics number instead so I could look the information up on line.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

buddhist_virgo,

You got lucky if they will do this for you. I talked on two occasions to officers and was informed during both calls that I would have to go to my local office if I needed the stamp. Like Kathryn41 they gave me the correct number to check my status and I asked for a NOA and was told they could not issue me one.

I am driving to Atlanta for a passport stamp.

We got the NOA1 but we never got the biometrics appt letter. We filed for I751 in Jan'08. Called them a couple of times already. Everytime we call them we re told we'll receive a notice from them in 30 days. They always tell us to call in 30 days if we haven't received anything. So, here we are calling every 30 days, playing this endless game. ARGGGHH///

Last week we were told they had sent us a notice on Apr 23rd. Let's see if it comes. They have certainly lost the appt notice.

Oh good luck!

I actually called the USCIS twice inquirying about NOA. The lady whom I spoke with on the first call advised me to schedule an infopass. That same day in the afternoon, an officer Gonzales (not sure of her last name but it sound Spanish to me) told me that she's going to call the VSC to send me a NOA. I asked her when should I get the notice then, she told me in 30 days. I thought, "#######" just sending stuff takes forever.

Anyway, I made that call over a month ago, but it seems the 30 days that she promised was long overdue. I am preparing stuff now for our infopass appointment this Monday, the 5th, because waiting for that stupid NOA is a hopeless case. It's pitiful!

Rose I am from the Birmingham area too and my husband and I went yesterday for an INFOPASS and got his I-551 stamp in his passport. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes. Just a note that there is a good bit of construction and on the interstates so make sure you give yourself plenty of time for your appointment. I asked about no BIO too and he said that eventually we would get that in the mail. Will have to wait and see, have a safe trip.

Ummm. I wish I could recall all the automated recording options I selected to be connected with this kind officer. I do remember hearing "transferring to the customer service at VSC" or something along the line after entering my receipt number. I guess officers at VSC are not consistent in their responses to this issue, and I was lucky. I did receive NOA1 from VSC today! The notice date is the date when I called, which means that the officer kept his promise :)

My bio appointment was at the application "support" center in Cincinnatti, so the officer (?) who took my fingerprints did not (or could not) give me the stamp on my passport. I was ready to go to my local office in Louisville but thought I would call the customer service and ask for "official" instructions, and I'm glad I did. It saved me a 2-hour drive to Louisville!

Anyway, I'm sorry calling the customer service does not work for everyone. To anyone who hasn't called the number, I'd say it's worth a try.
