Hello,

When an LPR parent is in the process of processing a petition for his siblings what happen if the LPR parent ends up being married to a US citizen while the kids are waiting for their visa? Can the US citizen spouse help to speed up the application process for the petitioned siblings? Because right now it will take like 5 years before a visa becomes available for siblings being petitioned by an LPR parent. I was just wondering if the US citizen spouse can help to speed up the process being a US citizen stepparent. If so what do we need to do? And how long is it going to take until the kids gets their visa?

Thanks,

Jen

Are you asking about children or your Sibling's? If it is your children then I have answered below. If it is your sibling ( Brother or sister to you ) then it will take a long time as only a citizen can petion a sibling

If you married the US Citizen before the child's 18th birthday then the US spouse can apply as a step parent and it takes 9-12 months. Start with the I-130 and then it goes to the NVC and processes from there. It took me less than a year to get my step kids here.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?
