Saturday I flew into Abbotsford and I am fortunate that I have family in Langley just outside of vancouver. So Monday at 10am my anutie drove me to my interview. We parked right accross the street at 1050 West Pender St. it cost me $18.00 for 2 hours. Went to the consulate for my 1pm interview and was to early they told me to come back in 15 min. Security Checkpoints- They go thru everything twice and make sure you don't bring any sealed evelopes. They did allow me to bring in my purse as long as they are not big. The last security check point they gave me a list as to the order to prepare my paperwork. Then while waiting in the waiting room for 15 minutes just enough time to get the paperwork in order for the lady at the booth. She was extreamly pleaseant! Then you sit in and wait for another 15minutes and they do electronic finger prints. Then you sit and wait for about 10-15minutes and they call you up to the booth and that is where they interview you. They asked me a bunch of questions about 10-12 to be exact. Then they told me to sit again.....Then I was called up to another booth where the first lady I saw told me I was APPROVED! YEAHHHHHHH! I am to go back tommorow at 2pm but i suggest you go early as when I left there was a line up of about 50 people there to pick up there visas. Don't be nervous it is a breeze and it is very exciting.

Congrats!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Congratulations! They don't take the DS-230 at all. At least they didn't when I was there. And you can bypass that line of people altogether. When I had to go back, two days in a row, that huge line up freaked me out. Because we were doing a K visa process you're allowed to bypass them all and you don't have to wait. Thank goodness for that! Again, congratulations!
