Hi everyone, am new to this forum; have spent the last couple months reading many of your posts and the guides and have learned alot. We will be filing our I-130 soon.

I have two questions I hope you all can help me with:

1. Is it true that all CR-1 visa interviews for Canada are only held in Montreal?

2. I am the USC, he is a Canadian citizen. He holds a British passport though (he is originally from S Africa more than 10 yrs ago). Should he get a Canadian passport for this process - will the interview in Canada want him to have Canadian passport to issue the visa? Or does it matter?

Thanks, it's great to have people like you to share this process with...

Yes, Canadian CR-1 interviews are only held in Montreal. Where is he living right now - Canada or Britain?? If he is in Britain, he will do this process over there using his British passport. If he is living in Canada, he will go through Montreal using a Canadian passport - if he doesn't have one, he will need to apply.

I'm guessing that your SO holds multiple citizenships. British, Canadian, South African too?

There shouldn't be any problems caused by this, however a British passport does not prove Canadian citizenship. I believe that issue was resolved in early July 1867. Your SO will need to get a Canadian passport or declare British citizenship on the forms, because he has proof of this.

There was an earlier post about needing to go to the UK to get an interview if you declare British citizenship. I'm not sure I agree with that I think I remember other posters having interviews in their country of origin even if it didn't match there country of Citizenship. I could be wrong so it's worth researching on the forums before sending in the forms.

Good Luck with your visa

Hi there, Yes CR1 interviews are only held in montreal. I'm not to sure about the british passport. You should call US immigration to find out or if your case is with NVC already, then find out from them.

Hope this helps.
